| Summary, etc. | The use of recycled rubber in structural concrete production is generally not considered <br/>practical as it can significantly decrease the strength and elasticity of the concrete. <br/>However, a new method for casting concrete has been developed that can greatly improve <br/>the strength and elasticity of rubberized concrete. This method involves using the same mix <br/>design as normal concrete (NC) but replacing some of the natural fine aggregate (NFA) <br/>with crumb rubber. Concrete specimens were cast with varying amounts of crumb rubber in <br/>place of NFA and then compressed in a mold to reduce the volume of fresh concrete for a <br/>period before being removed. This method can promote the use of waste rubber in concrete <br/>and can be easily implemented by the precast industry to manufacture precast concrete <br/>products, leading to more sustainable and environmentally friendly construction practices. |
