| Summary, etc. | Aim: This study evaluated the clinical performance of Zenit Nano Ceramic Composite restorations in comparison with a Neo Spectra™ ST Nano Ceramic restoration for restoring class I carious permenant posterior teeth, as well to quantify the degree of wear on the occlusal surfaces of both dental restorations using a Digital Scanner.<br/>Methodology: There was a total of 28 subjects with Class I Carious Cavities were recruited. The teeth have been divided into two groups (n=14): Group (1): Zenit Nano Ceramic resin Composite while Group (2): Neo Spectra™ ST Nano Ceramic resin Composite and were restored based on thethe manufacturer’s instructions. The evaluations of the restorations were conducted utilizing the modified USPHS criteria at baseline, 3, 6 and 12 months. Wear Quantification over a specific period involved comparing recall scans taken at 3, 6, and 12 months with baseline scans obtained from the intraoral scanner. Quantitative analysis was performed using Geomagic Control Software. Data were tabulated and statistically analyzed with significant level set at (P ≤ 0.05) using Chi-Squared test, The Mann-Whitney U test was used to analyze ordinal data for intergroup comparisons, while intragroup comparisons were conducted using Friedman's test followed by Nemenyi's post hoc test. <br/>Results: Inter and intra group comparisons showed no statistically significant difference between Zenit Nano Ceramic resin Composite and Neo Spectra™ ST Nano Ceramic resin Composite at different time intervals in terms of anatomical form, marginal adaptation, surface texture, gross fracture, marginal discoloration, color match, secondary caries, postoperative sensitivity. However, the amount of wear in the Neo Spectra group was significantly higher than that of ZENIT after 12 months (p<0.001).<br/>Conclusion: The clinical performance Zenit Nano Ceramic resin Composite and Neo Spectra™ ST Nano Ceramic resin Composite was similar and considered clinically excellent after a period of 12 months of clinical use. However, the amount of wear in the Neo Spectra group was significantly higher than that of ZENIT after 12 months.<br/>Clinical significance: Zenit Nano Ceramic resin Composite and Neo Spectra™ ST Nano Ceramic resin Composite are highly recommended restorative material in class I cavities. |
