| Summary, etc. | Background: Oromotor stimulation improves oral feeding readiness and earlier full oral feeding <br/>in preterm infants. Aim: To evaluate the effect of structured and unstructured oromotor <br/>stimulation program on feeding outcomes in preterm infants. Design: A single-blind <br/>randomized controlled trial was utilized. Sample: A purposive sample of sixty preterm infants <br/>who were randomly assigned into two equal groups, (intervention and sham group). Setting: <br/>The study was carried out at neonatal intensive care units at El Manial (Kaser Al Aini) that are <br/>affiliated to Cairo University. Tools: Preterm infants’ characteristics and medical history sheet, <br/>physiologic indicators record, feeding outcomes record and premature oral feeding readiness <br/>assessment scale. Results: Before intervention, there was no statistical significance difference <br/>between both groups baseline characteristics. After intervention, mean average of respiratory <br/>rate was significantly differed between the two groups and this difference within normal range, <br/>mean weight was increased significantly at discharge only, mean milk volume increased <br/>significantly at the six and seven days, transition time to start suck from bottle and reach full <br/>oral feed were significantly earlier, premature oral feeding readiness assessment scale mean <br/>score was increased significantly in intervention group compared to Sham group and length of <br/>hospital stay was not significantly differ in both groups. Conclusion: Preterm infants’ who <br/>received structured oromotor stimulation showed higher weight gain, milk volume, premature <br/>oral feeding readiness assessment scale means score and faster oral feeding transition time than <br/>unstructured (sham) group. Recommendation: It was recommended that premature infant oral <br/>motor intervention should be included in the routine care of neonatal intensive care unit by <br/>nurses. Protocols, clear booklets, compressed discs and videos related to premature infant oral <br/>motor intervention techniques should be established in neonatal intensive care units. |

| Summary, etc. | المقدمة: التحفيز الفموي الحركي يحسن من جاهزية الرضاعة الفموية والوصول المبكر للرضاعة الفموية الكاملة لدى الخدج. الهدف: تقييم تأثير برنامج التحفيز الفموي الحركي المنظم وغير المنظم على نتائج التغذية عند الخدج. التصميم: تم استخدام تجربة عشوائية محكمة أحادية التعمية. العينة: عينة قصدية من ستين طفالً خديجاًتم توزيعهم عشوائياًإلى مجموعتين متساويتين( مجموعة التدخل ومجموعة الضابطة – الشام). المكان: أجريت الدراسة في وحدات العناية المركزة لحديثي الولادة في مستشفى المنيل (قصر العيني) التابعة لجامعة القاهرة.الأدوات: استمارة خصائص الأطفال الخدج والتاريخ الطبي، سجل المؤشرات الفسيولوجية، سجل نتائج التغذية، ومقياس تقييم جاهزية الرضاعة الفموية المبكرة. النتائج: قبل التدخل، لم يكن هناك فرق ذو دلالة إحصائية بين خصائص المجموعتين عند خط الأساس. بعد التدخل، ظهر اختلاف معنوي في متوسط معدل التنفس بين المجموعتين ضمن النطاق الطبيعي. كما زاد متوسط الوزن بشكل ملحوظ عند الخروج فقط، وزاد متوسط حجم الحليب بشكل ملحوظ في اليومين السادس والسابع. وكان وقت الانتقال لبدء المص من الزجاجة والوصول إلى الرضاعة الفموية الكاملة أبكر بشكل معنوي. كذلك ارتفع متوسط درجات مقياس جاهزية الرضاعة الفموية المبكرة بشكل ملحوظ في مجموعة التدخل مقارنة بالمجموعة الضابطة (الشام). بينما لم يختلف طول مدة الآقامة بالمستشفى بشكل ملحوظ بين المجموعتين. الآستنتاج: أظهر الأطفال الخدج الذين تلقوا التحفيز الفموي الحركي المنظم زيادة أكبر في الوزن، حجم الحليب،درجات مقياس جاهزية الرضاعة الفموية المبكرة، وسرعة الآنتقال للرضاعة الفموية مقارنةً بمجموعة الشام )غير المنظم)التوصيات: يوصى بإدخال التدخل الفموي الحركي الأطفال الخدج ضمن الرعاية الروتينية في وحدات العناية المركزة لحديثي الولادة من قبل الممرضات. كما يجب إعداد بروتوكولات، كتيبات واضحة، أقراص مضغوطة، وفيديوهات متعلقة بتقنيات التدخل الفموي الحركي للأطفال الخدج داخل وحدات العناية المركزة لحديثي الولادة. |
