Summary, etc. The primary objective of this thesis is to categorize the quality of the rock mass in the Gattar-<br/>V uranium occurrence, which is a part of Gabal Gattar. This will be done by utilizing the Rock <br/>Mass Rating (RMR), Rock Mass Quality (Q), and Geological Strength Index (GSI). The results <br/>obtained from this classification will be used to determine the most accurate estimates for current <br/>and future excavation and support systems. <br/>The geological and geotechnical characteristics of the rock mass at the Gattar-V (G-V) <br/>uranium occurrence were examined during the study. The primary aim of the rock mass <br/>classifications conducted was to gather sufficient data for future excavation and support-design <br/>endeavors. To achieve this, a literature review was performed, succeeded by an extensive field <br/>study and laboratory analysis. The field studies included meticulous discontinuity surveys of the <br/>exposed rock mass at the surface, and five fresh samples, representing five stations across the <br/>entire G-V occurrence area, were manually extracted from their host rock utilizing joints as <br/>discontinuity planes. <br/>The results of the correlations between rock mass classification systems (RMR, Q, and GSI) <br/>indicate the following: a) The support system recommended by the Q system is more effective in <br/>ensuring the stability of rock units in future tunnels. b) The excavation of tunnels suggested by the <br/>RMR system is more efficient in ensuring the stability of rock units in future tunnels. c) The current <br/>tunnel is stable and falls into the unsupported category, with a maximum unsupported tunnel span <br/>of 6.0 m, requiring no rock bolts or fiber-reinforced shotcrete. d) For future tunnels with a span <br/>greater than 6.0 m, the excavation and support system recommendations should be based on these <br/>rock mass classification results.

Summary, etc. تهدف الرسالة إلى تقييم وتصنيف الكتل الصخرية في منطقة تواجد اليورانيوم بجتار5 (Gattar-V) بجبل جتار- شمال الصحراء الشرقية مصر، وذلك باستخدام ثلاثة أنظمة أساسية هي: تصنيف الكتل الصخرية (RMR)، نظام الجودة الصخرية (Q)، ومؤشر قوة التراكيب الجيولوجية (GSI)، حيث اعتمدت الدراسة على مراجعة الأدبيات السابقة، ثم تنفيذ دراسات ميدانية تضمنت مسح الفواصل والانفصالات الصخرية، إضافةً إلى جمع عينات صخرية ممثلة للموقع وتحليلها معمليًا، بهدف توفير قاعدة بيانات دقيقة يمكن الاستناد إليها في تصميم ودراسة الأنفاق المستقبلية.<br/>أظهرت نتائج المقارنة بين أنظمة التصنيف أن نظام Q أكثر فاعلية في تحديد أنظمة التدعيم المناسبة، بينما يوفر نظام RMR تقديرات أوضح لمدى كفاءة الحفر واستقرار الصخور أثناء التنفيذ. كما تبين أن النفق الحالي مستقر دون الحاجة إلى تدعيم، بحد أقصى لفتحة غير مدعّمة يبلغ 6 أمتار، في حين أن الأنفاق المستقبلية التي يتجاوز اتساعها هذا الحد تستلزم الاعتماد على توصيات أنظمة التصنيف المختلفة لضمان الاستقرار والأمان.
