Summary, etc.	Background: Lateral epicondylitis (LE) is a degenerative and inflammatory <br/>process which involves the tendons of the extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor <br/>carpi radialis longus, and extensor digitorum communis. The aim of this work was <br/>to compare the therapeutic effects of iontophoresis therapy versus those of <br/>extracorporeal shock wave therapy in patients with chronic LE. <br/>Methods: This randomized single-blinded controlled study was carried out on 60 <br/>patients with chronic LE. Patients were divided into three equal groups: Group (A) <br/>(control): received conventional physical therapy training programs only, Group <br/>(B) (Experimental): received a solution of dexamethasone with lidocaine <br/>(iontophoresis therapy), plus conventional physical therapy training program and <br/>Group (C) (Experimental): received extracorporeal shock wave therapy, plus <br/>conventional physical therapy training program. <br/>Results: Post-treatment outcomes showed significant improvements in both Group <br/>B and Group C compared to Group A (p < 0.001). VAS scores decreased from <br/>6.1 ± 0.83 to 5.1 ± 1.36 in Group A, from 5.6 ± 0.99 to 2.3 ± 1.17 in Group B, and <br/>from 5.5 ± 0.94 to 2.2 ± 1.01 in Group C (p1 < 0.001, p2 < 0.001, p3 = 0.962). Grip <br/>strength increased from 23.8 ± 7.74 to 28.4 ± 9.6 in Group A, from 23.2 ± 6.33 to <br/>38.1 ± 9.63 in Group B, and from 25.2 ± 7.12 to 37.1 ± 10.41 in Group C (p = <br/>0.005). patient-rated tennis elbow evaluation (PRTEE) total scores improved <br/>from 72.3 ± 10.18 to 49.3 ± 13.46 in Group A, from 67.5 ± 10.76 to 20.6 ± 6.75 in <br/>Group B, and from 65.7 ± 8.63 to 23.4 ± 7.86 in Group C (p < 0.001). There was no <br/>statistically significant difference between Group B and Group C post-treatment <br/>across all measured outcomes (p3 > 0.05). <br/>Conclusion: Both iontophoresis and extracorporeal shock wave therapy are <br/>effective in reducing pain and improving grip strength and function in patients with <br/>chronic lateral epicondylitis. No significant difference was observed between the <br/>two modalities, suggesting both can be used as valid conservative treatment <br/>options, but iontophoresis may be a good and suitable choice in low-income <br/>patients.

Summary, etc.	الخلفية: يُعد التهاب اللقيمة الجانبي (LE) عملية تنكسية التهابية تشمل أوتار العضلة الباسطة الكعبرية القصيرة، والعضلة الباسطة الكعبرية الطويلة، والعضلة الباسطة المشتركة للأصابع. وقد هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى مقارنة التأثيرات العلاجية للعلاج بالتأين الفوري والعلاج بالموجات التصادمية عن بعد (ESWT) لدى المرضى المصابين بالتهاب اللقيمة الجانبي المزمن.<br/>طرق البحث: أُجريت هذه الدراسة العشوائية المُحكمة أحادية التعمية على 60 مريضًا يعانون من التهاب اللقيمة الجانبي المزمن. وتم تقسيم المرضى إلى ثلاث مجموعات متساوية: المجموعة (أ) (عددها=20) (مجموعة ضابطة): تلقت برامج العلاج الطبيعي التقليدية فقط، والمجموعة (ب) (عددها=20) (مجموعة تجريبية): تلقت محلول ديكساميثازون مع ليدوكائين (العلاج بالتأين الفوري) بالإضافة إلى برنامج العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي، والمجموعة (ج) (عددها=20) (مجموعة تجريبية): تلقت العلاج بالموجات التصادمية عن بعد بالإضافة إلى برنامج العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي.<br/>النتائج:أظهرت نتائج ما بعد العلاج تحسنًا كبيرًا في كل من المجموعة (ب) والمجموعة (ج) مقارنةً بالمجموعة (أ) (p < 0.001).<br/>انخفضت درجات مقياس الألم البصري (VAS) من 6.1 ± 0.83 إلى 5.1 ± 1.36 في المجموعة (أ)، ومن 5.6 ± 0.99 إلى 2.3 ± 1.17 في المجموعة (ب)، ومن 5.5 ± 0.94 إلى 2.2 ± 1.01 في المجموعة (ج) (p1 < 0.001، p2 < 0.001، p3 = 0.962).<br/>زادت قوة القبضة من 23.8 ± 7.74 إلى 28.4 ± 9.6 في المجموعة (أ)، ومن 23.2 ± 6.33 إلى 38.1 ± 9.63 في المجموعة (ب)، ومن 25.2 ± 7.12 إلى 37.1 ± 10.41 في المجموعة (ج) (p = 0.005).<br/>تحسنت درجات مقياس تقييم مريض التهاب اللقيمة الجانبي (PRTEE) من 72.3 ± 10.18 إلى 49.3 ± 13.46 في المجموعة (أ)، ومن 67.5 ± 10.76 إلى 20.6 ± 6.75 في المجموعة (ب)، ومن 65.7 ± 8.63 إلى 23.4 ± 7.86 في المجموعة (ج) (p < 0.001).<br/>لم تُظهر النتائج فروقًا ذات دلالة إحصائية بين المجموعتين (ب) و(ج) بعد العلاج في جميع المتغيرات المقاسة (p3 > 0.05).<br/>الاستنتاجات: كلا العلاجين (العلاج بالتأين الفوري والعلاج بالموجات التصادمية عن بعد (ESWT)) فعّالان في علاج التهاب اللقيمة الجانبي المزمن، إلا أن العلاج بالتأين الفوري قد يكون خيارًا جيدًا ومناسبًا للمرضى ذوي الدخل المحدود.
