| Summary, etc. | This thesis aims to study the determinants that lead to the differences in human capital <br/>development in eighteen Middle Eastern and North African countries, given the digitalization era <br/>from 2000 to 2023. Sen’s Capability Approach, Human Capital Formation theory and <br/>endogenous growth theory are the theoretical framework of the thesis. Based on the reviewed <br/>literature, the determinants under investigation are digitalization, economic growth, population <br/>growth, foreign direct investment, financial development, trade openness, infrastructure, and <br/>expenditure on health. The empirical relationship is tested using two models. First, the feasible <br/>generalized least squares regression (FGLS) is used to test the static relationship, and second, the <br/>dynamic generalized method of moments (GMM) is used to test the dynamic relationship. <br/>Fortunately, the results of the two models are consistent. All the determinants had a positive impact <br/>except population growth, which is consistent with the theoretical framework. |

| Summary, etc. | تهدف هذه الرسالة إلى دراسة العوامل التي تؤدي الي الاختلاف في تنمية رأس المال البشري في ثماني عشرة دولة من دول الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، وذلك في ظل عصر الرقمنة منذ عام ٢٠٠٠ حتى ٢٠٢٣. تعتمد الرسالة نظريًا على نهج القدرات لأمارتيا سين ونظرية تكوين رأس المال البشري استنادًا إلى الأدبيات التي تم مراجعتها، فإن العوامل التي يتم دراستها هي الرقمنة، النمو الاقتصادي، النمو السكاني، الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر، التطور المالي، انفتاح التجارة، والإنفاق على الصحة والبنية التحتية. تقوم الرسالة باختبار العلاقة تجريبيًا باستخدام نموذجين. يتم اختبار العلاقة الثابتة باستخدام طريقة المربعات الصغرى المعممة القابلة للتطبيق FGLS، بينما يتم اختبار العلاقة الديناميكية باستخدام طريقة العزوم المعممة الديناميكية GMM ولحسن الحظ، كانت نتائج النموذجين متسقة. وقد أظهرت النتائج أن جميع هذه العوامل كان لها تأثير إيجابي على تنمية رأس المال البشري، باستثناء النمو السكاني الذي كان له تأثير سلبي |
