| Summary, etc. | Following a task-based framework, this study examined the impact of technology on occupational employment in Egypt (1998–2018) by analyzing the employment implications of the Routine-biased Technological Change (RBTC) hypothesis.It was pioneering in its approach to address the technology–employment relationship in Egypt through the direct application of a task-based approach. The study filled an important gap in the literature by covering a longer period and using direct measures of task content in detailed occupations classified under the most recent occupational classification (ISCO-08).It employed quadratic OLS and kernel-smoothing regressions to analyze changes in occupational employment.Decomposition analysis and logistic regression were used to assess the role of occupational task content relative to other occupation-specific factors in explaining these changes. Additionally, a transition probability matrix was constructed to test the assumption that routine workers were more likely to switch their occupational task category, primarily to manual occupations.<br/><br/>The findings provided partial support for the RBTC hypothesis. First, employment trends leaned more toward a downgrading pattern than a polarizing one. Second, routine employment declined overall, with middle-skilled workers dominating the sector; however, low exposure to routinization prevented it from dominating the middle-skill group.Third, task content significantly explained the decline in routine employment compared to abstract or manual jobs. Finally, routine workers had the highest transition probability, mainly shifting to abstract occupations. |

| Summary, etc. | استنادًا إلى إطارٍ قائمٍ على المهام، تناولت هذه الدراسة أثر التكنولوجيا على التوظيف المهني في مصر خلال الفترة (1998–2018) من خلال تحليل التداعيات التشغيلية لفرضية التغيّر التكنولوجي المُنحاز ضد المهام الروتينية(RBTC). وقد تميّزت الدراسة بريادتها في مُعالجة العلاقة بين التكنولوجيا والتوظيف في مصر عبر التطبيق المُباشر لهذا الإطار القائم على المهام. كما سدّت الدراسة فجوةً مهمّة في الأدبيات من خلال تغطية فترة زمنية أطول واستخدام مقاييس مُباشرة لمحتوى المهام في المهن التفصيلية المصنّفة وفق أحدث التصنيفات المهنية الدولية(ISCO-08). وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على أسلوب الانحدار التربيعي العادي(Quadratic OLS)والانحدارات الملساء بالنواة(Kernel-smoothing regressions)لتحليل التغيّرات في التوظيف المهني. كما استُخدم تحليل التفكيك(Decomposition analysis)والانحدار اللوجستي لتقدير دور محتوى المهام المهنية مُقارنةً بالعوامل الأخرى الخاصة بالمهن في تفسير هذه التغيّرات. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تم بناء مصفوفة احتمالات انتقال(Transition probability matrix)لاختبار الفرضية القائلة بأن العاملين في المهن الروتينية أكثر ميلًا إلى تغيير فئة مهامهم المهنية، خصوصًا نحو المهن اليدوية.<br/><br/>أظهرت النتائج دعمًا جزئيًا لفرضية الـRBTC. أولاً، اتجهت أنماط التوظيف بدرجة أكبر نحو مسارٍ تنازلي بدلاً من مسارٍ استقطابي. ثانيًا، شهد التوظيف في المهن الروتينية تراجعًا عامًا، على الرغم من سيطرة العمالة متوسطة المهارة على هذا القطاع؛ غير أنّ انخفاض درجة التعرّض للمهام الروتينية حال دون سيطرتها على شريحة المهارات المتوسطة. ثالثًا، فسّر مُحتوى المهام بدرجة ملحوظة تراجع التوظيف الروتيني مُقارنةً بالمهن التجريدية أو اليدوية. وأخيرًا، سجّل العاملون في المهن الروتينية أعلى احتمالية للانتقال، وغالبًا ما انتقلوا إلى المهن التجريدية. |
