| Summary, etc. | Applying nursing care bundle on mechanically ventilated infants play a role in decreasing <br/>the incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia and improving their outcomes. Aim: To <br/>evaluate the effect of using nursing care bundle on developing ventilator associated <br/>pneumonia among infants. Design: A quasi-experimental research pre/post-test. A <br/>purposive sample of 100 infants on mechanical ventilator aged ranges from one to 12 <br/>month divided equally into study and control groups. The study was carried out at pediatric <br/>intensive care units of two hospitals. Three tools including personal characteristics and <br/>medical history questionnaire, nursing care bundle and ventilator associated pneumonia <br/>indicator’s record. Results: three-fifths and less of infants in the study and control groups <br/>their age ranged from 6 to 12 months and from 1 to less than 6 months respectively. The <br/>main diagnosis was respiratory distress. Minority among both groups had unplanned <br/>extubation, mechanical ventilation days among the study group were less than the control <br/>group with significant difference. One fifth and more than one third of infants developed <br/>ventilator associated pneumonia among study and control groups respectively. Highly <br/>statistically significant negative correlations were detected between various components of <br/>the nursing care bundle and development of ventilator associated pneumonia. Conclusion: <br/>Application of the nursing care bundle significantly decrease the incidence of ventilator <br/>associated pneumonia among infants on mechanical ventilation as well as mean <br/>mechanical ventilation days, corticosteroids use and mortality. Recommendation: <br/>Application of nursing care bundle in pediatric intensive care units should be used as a <br/>routine care for infants. |

| Summary, etc. | يُعد تطبيق حزمة الرعاية التمريضية على الرضّع المتصلينبأجهزة التنفس الصناعي ذا دور مهم في تقليل معدل حدوث الالتهاب الرئوي المصاحبلجهاز التنفس الصناعي وتحسين نتائجهم الصحية. هدفت هذه الدراسة إلىتقييمتأثير استخدام حزمة الرعاية التمريضية على الإصابة بالالتهاب الرئوي المصاحب لجهاز التنفس الصناعي بين الرضع.اعتمدت الدراسة على تصميم شبه تجريبي باستخدام اختبار قبلي وبعدي، وشملت عينة لغرض البحث مكونة من 100 رضيع على جهاز التنفس الصناعي تتراوح أعمارهم بين شهر واحد واثني عشر شهرًا، تم تقسيمهم بالتساوي إلى مجموعتين: مجموعة الدراسة والمجموعة الضابطة. أُجريت الدراسة في وحدات العناية المركزة للأطفال في مستشفيين، واستخدمت ثلاث أدوات بحثية تمثلت في استبيان البيانات الشخصية والتاريخ الطبي للرضيع، وحزمة الرعاية التمريضية، وسجل مؤشرات الالتهاب الرئوي المصاحبلجهاز التنفس الصناعي. أظهرت النتائج أن ثلاثة أخماس الرضّع في مجموعة الدراسة تراوحت أعمارهم بين 6 إلى 12 شهرًا، بينما كانت أعمار أقل من ثلاثة أخماس الرضّع في المجموعة الضابطة بين شهر واحد وأقل من 6 أشهر، وكان التشخيص الرئيسي لديهم هو صعوبة في التنفس. كما تبين أن نسبة قليلة من الرضّع في كلا المجموعتين تعرضت للفَصْل بدون تخطيط مسبق (عن طريق الخطأ)، وأن مدة اتصال الرضع بجهاز التنفس الصناعي في مجموعة الدراسة كانت أقل من المجموعة الضابطة بفارق ذي دلالة إحصائية. أُصيب نحو خمس الرضّع في مجموعة الدراسة، بينما أُصيب أكثر من ثلث الرضّع في المجموعة الضابطة بالالتهاب الرئوي المصاحب لجهاز التنفس الصناعي. وكشفت الدراسة عن وجد ارتباط سلبي ذات دلالة إحصائية عالية بين مختلف مكونات حزمة الرعاية التمريضية وحدوث الالتهاب الرئوي المصاحب لجهاز التنفس الصناعي. واستنتجت الدراسة أنيُسهم تطبيق حزمة الرعاية التمريضية بشكل كبير في تقليل معدل حدوث الالتهاب الرئوي المرتبط بجهاز التنفس الاصطناعي بين الرُضّع، بالإضافة إلى تقليل متوسط أيام استخدام جهاز التنفس الاصطناعي، وتقليل استخدام الكورتيزون، وتقليل معدل الوفيات. |
