| Summary, etc. | Background: Breast engorgement is one of the main reasons why women <br/>throughout the world stop or reduce the duration of breast feeding. Breast <br/>engorgement may result in swelling of the breast, hardness, aching, <br/>tenderness, and pain. Breast engorgement occurs in 72% to 85% of women. <br/> Aim of the study: to compare the efficacy of non-thermal ultrasound in <br/>the management of breast engorgement in Post-Partum Women. <br/>Subjects and methods: this study was carried out on Forty females <br/>diagnosed with breast engorgement participated in this study, they were <br/>selected randomly from Mubarak General Hospital, Giza Governorate and <br/>they were divided into two groups equal in number. Group(A) (twenty <br/>patients) All of them treated by non-thermal therapeutic ultrasound along <br/>with conventional treatment from the third day after delivery daily for <br/>seven days. Also, they advised to do conventional treatment for their <br/>breasts in the form of hot packs, massage and ice packs. Group (B) (twenty <br/>patients) All of them treated with conventional treatment only daily for <br/>7days as in group (A). <br/>Results: at the end of the treatment course, percentage of improvement in <br/>VAS, 6- point self-rated breast engorgement scale, Redness scoring scale , <br/>Edema scoring scale, cortisol level and CRP (C- reactive protein) in the <br/>blood was significantly high in the group (A) compared to the group (B) <br/>which mean that The use of therapeutic non-thermal ultrasound is very <br/>effective in relieving breast engorgement after delivery. <br/>Conclusion: The use of therapeutic non-thermal ultrasound is very <br/>effective modality to decrease pain, inflammation, tenderness, redness, and <br/>edema in breast engorgement after delivery and is recommended for use in <br/>physiotherapy clinical settings. |

| Summary, etc. | لخلفية:<br/>يُعَدُّ احتقان الثدي أحد الأسباب الرئيسية التي تدفع النساء في مختلف أنحاء العالم إلى التوقف عن الرضاعة الطبيعية أو تقليل مدتها. وقد يؤدي احتقان الثدي إلى تورم في الثدي، وتصلب، وألم، وحساسية زائدة، وشعور بعدم الارتياح. ويحدث احتقان الثدي لدى ما بين 72% إلى 85% من النساء بعد الولادة.<br/>هدف الدراسة:<br/>تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى مقارنة فاعلية الموجات فوق الصوتية غير الحرارية في علاج احتقان الثدي لدى النساء بعد الولادة.<br/>المواد والأساليب:<br/>أُجريت هذه الدراسة على أربعين سيدة تم تشخيص إصابتهن باحتقان الثدي، وتم اختيارهن عشوائيًا من مستشفى مبارك العام بمحافظة الجيزة. تم تقسيم المشاركات إلى مجموعتين متساويتين في العدد:<br/>المجموعة (أ): (عشرون مريضة) تلقّين علاجًا بالموجات فوق الصوتية العلاجية غير الحرارية بالإضافة إلى العلاج التقليدي، وذلك بدءًا من اليوم الثالث بعد الولادة ولمدة سبعة أيام متتالية. كما تم توجيههن لاستخدام العلاج التقليدي للثدي والذي يشمل الكمادات الدافئة، والتدليك، والكمادات الباردة.<br/>المجموعة (ب): (عشرون مريضة) تلقّين العلاج التقليدي فقط يوميًا لمدة سبعة أيام، بنفس الطريقة المطبقة في المجموعة (أ).<br/>النتائج:<br/>في نهاية فترة العلاج، أظهرت المجموعة (أ) نسبة تحسن أعلى بشكل ملحوظ مقارنة بالمجموعة(ب) في كل من مقياس الألم البصري , ومقياس احتقان الثدي الذاتي المكوَّن من ست نقاط، ومقياس احمرار الجلد, ومقياس التورم, بالإضافة إلى مستويات الكورتيزول وبروتين سي التفاعلي فى الدم. وتشير هذه النتائج إلى أن استخدام الموجات فوق الصوتية العلاجية غير الحرارية فعّال للغاية في تخفيف احتقان الثدي بعد الولادة.<br/>الاستنتاج:<br/>تُعَدُّ الموجات فوق الصوتية العلاجية غير الحرارية وسيلة فعّالة لتقليل الألم، والالتهاب، والحساسية، والاحمرار، والتورم المصاحب لاحتقان الثدي بعد الولادة، ويوصى باستخدامها في الممارسات الإكلينيكية للعلاج الطبيعي. |
