| Summary, etc. | In this thesis, a proposed VSWR-resilient series Doherty Power Amplifier (DPA) operating at 39 GHz and targeting 5G NR FR2 applications is presented. This solution addresses load impedance mismatches over a VSWR 3:1 range, which can degrade the performance of a power amplifier. A two-step approach is employed: first, configuring the DPA implementation to restore the magnitude of the reflection coefficient, and second, turning a configurable output matching network to correct the phase of the reflection coefficient. Additionally, this work includes a comparative study of series versus parallel DPA implementations, demonstrating the series DPA’s promising potential to handle more extreme load variations. The DPA implementation achieves a saturated output power (Psat) of 18.1 dBm, an output power at 1 dB compression (OP1dB) of 15.7 dBm, a peak power-added efficiency (PAE) of 21.8%, and a 6 dB power back-off (PBO) PAE of 12.9%, utilizing the GF22 SOI FDX technology |
