| Summary, etc. | Background: Patients who underwent neck dissection surgeries (NDS) frequently <br/>have shoulder impairments, particularly pain and functional limitations affecting their <br/>function in everyday life. Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect <br/>of maitland mobilization and scapular stabilization exercises on shoulder dysfunction <br/>post NDS. Methods: Sixty patients (21 males, 39 females) aged from 30 to 50 years <br/>suffering from shoulder dysfunction post NDS participated in this study. They were <br/>selected randomly from Damanhur Oncology Center, El- Behira, Egypt. They were <br/>randomly distributed into three equal groups (each group 20 patients). Group (A) <br/>received maitland mobilization and scapular stabilization exercises. Group (B) <br/>received maitland mobilization. Group (C) received scapular stabilization exercises. <br/>Patients received their treatment 3 sessions per week for 2 months. All groups <br/>received the traditional physical therapy program in the form of (active ROM <br/>exercises (Pendulum exercise, finger ladder exercise and shoulder wheel exercise), <br/>stretching and strengthening exercises). Digital goniometer and Shoulder Pain and <br/>Disability Index (SPADI) were used to measure shoulder range of motion (ROM) and <br/>shoulder pain and function respectively before and after the intervention for all <br/>groups. Results: The three groups demonstrated a significant increase in shoulder <br/>flexion, abduction and external rotation ROM and a significant decrease in SPADI <br/>post-treatment compared with that pre- treatment. Between groups comparison <br/>revealed a significant increase in shoulder flexion, abduction and external rotation <br/>ROM and a significant decrease in SPADI of group A compared with that of group B <br/>and C post treatment. There was a significant increase in shoulder flexion and <br/>abduction ROM and a significant decrease in SPADI of group B compared with that <br/>of group C post treatment (p < 0.001), while there was no significant difference in <br/>external rotation ROM between group B and C post treatment (p > 0.05). Conclusion: <br/>The combination of maitland mobilization and scapular stabilization exercises is <br/>an effective treatment for decreasing pain, improving shoulder ROM and <br/>enhancing function in patients with shoulder dysfunction post NDS. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: يعاني المرضي الذين خضعوا لجراحات تشريح الرقبة من الإعتلال الوظيفي للكتف،وخاصة الألم والقيود الوظيفية التي تؤثر على وظائفهم في الحياة اليومية. الغرض: أجريت هذه الدراسة بهدف تقييم تأثير التمارين الحركية لميتلاند وتمرينات تثبيت لوح الكتف على الإعتلال الوظيفي لمفصل الكتف بعد جراحات تشريح الرقبة. وقد شارك في هذه الدراسة ستون مريضا˝٢١) ذكر، ٣٩ أنثي( تتراوح أعمارهم ما بين ٣٠ و ٥٠ عاما˝ ممن يعانون من الإعتلال الوظيفيللكتف بعد جراحات تشريح الرقبة ، وقد تم إختيارهم عشوائيا˝ من معهد الأورام بدمنهور،محافظة البحيرة، وقد تم تقسيمهم عشوائيا إلى ثلاث مجموعات متساوية ٢٠) مريضا˝ في كلمجموعة.( المجموعة )أ:( تلقت العلاج بالتمارين الحركية الميتلاند وتمرينات تثبيت لوح الكتف. المجموعة )ب( تلقت العلاج بالتمارين الحركية لميتلاند والمجموعة )ج( تلقت العلاج بتمرينات تثبيت لوح الكتف، وقد تلقي كل المرضي العلاج بواقع ثلاث جلسات اسبوعيا˝ لمدة شهرين كفترة إجمالية للعلاج وقد تلقي المرضي في كل المجموعات العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي. وقد تم استخدام، مقياس الزوايا الرقمي لقياس المدي الحركي للكتف ومؤشر الام الكتف والعجز لقياس ألم ووظيفةالكتف قبل وبعد تلقي العلاج لكل المجموعات. النتائج: قد أظهرت أن هناك زيادة ذو دلالةإحصائية في المدي الحركي لمفصل الكتف بالإضافة إلى إنخفاض كبير في مؤشر آلام الكتف والعجز في المجموعات الثلاثة ولكن بالمقارنة بينهم أظهرت النتائج فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عالية بين المجموعات الثلاثة وكانت الأفضلية لصالح المجموعة )أ.(الإستنتاجات: تم التوصل إلى أن دمج التمارين الحركية لميتلاند وتمرينات تثبيت لوح الكتف هو وسيلة علاج فعالة لتقليلالألم وتحسين المدي الحركي ووظيفة الكتف في المرضي الذين يعانون من الإعتلال الوظيفي لمفصل الكتف بعد جراحات تشريح الرقبة. |
