| Summary, etc. | Background: Hypertrophic scars from burns present a significant<br/>therapeutic challenge due to their association with contractures, pain,<br/>cosmetic disfigurement, and psychological distress. Objective: To<br/>evaluate the effectiveness of combining Kinesiotaping and polarized light<br/>therapy in improving post-burn scar outcomes. Subjects and Methods:<br/>Sixty-nine male and female patients with post-burn hypertrophic scars,<br/>aged 20–45 years, participated in this randomized controlled trial.<br/>Patients were randomly assigned to three equal groups: Group A received<br/>Bioptron polarized light therapy followed by Kinesiotaping, Group B<br/>received polarized light therapy only, and Group C received<br/>Kinesiotaping only. All interventions were applied three times weekly for<br/>four weeks, alongside a standardized scar management protocol. Scar<br/>firmness was objectively measured using a modified Schiotz tonometer,<br/>while scar characteristics—vascularity, pigmentation, pliability, and<br/>height—were assessed using the Modified Vancouver Scar Scale<br/>(mVSS), pre- and post-intervention. Results: All groups showed<br/>significant improvement in scar firmness post-intervention (p < 0.001),<br/>with the greatest improvement in Group A, followed by Groups B and C.<br/>Intergroup differences in post-treatment firmness were statistically<br/>significant (p < 0.05). mVSS scores also improved significantly in all<br/>groups (p < 0.001), with Group A showing the most marked reduction.<br/>Significant differences in mVSS scores were noted among the three<br/>groups after treatment (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Combining Kinesiotaping<br/>with polarized light therapy resulted in superior improvements in post-<br/>burn scar outcomes compared to either treatment alone. This combined<br/>approach is recommended in rehabilitation protocols for hypertrophic<br/>burn scars. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: تشكل الندبات المتضخمة الناتجة عن الحروق تحديًا علاجيًا كبيرًا بسبب ارتباطها بالتقلصات، الألم، التشوهات الشكلية، والضغوط النفسية. الهدف: هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تقييم فاعلية الدمج بين العلاج بإستخدام شريط كينيسيو والعلاج بالضوء المستقطب في تحسين نتائج ندبات ما بعد الحروق. المواد والطرق: شارك 69 مريضًا من الذكور والإناث، تتراوح أعمارهم بين 20–45 عامًا، ممن يعانون من ندبات متضخمة ناتجة عن الحروق في تجربة عشوائية محكمة. تم توزيع المشاركين عشوائيًا إلى ثلاث مجموعات متساوية :المجموعة (أ): تلقت العلاج بالضوء المستقطب يليه العلاج بشريط كينيسيو، المجموعة (ب): تلقت العلاج بالضوء المستقطب فقط، المجموعة (ج): تلقت العلاج بشريط كينيسيو فقط .تم تطبيق جميع التدخلات ثلاث مرات أسبوعيًا لمدة أربعة أسابيع، إلى جانب بروتوكول موحد لإدارة الندبات. تم قياس صلابة الندبة بشكل موضوعي باستخدام مقياس شيوتز المعدل، بينما تم تقييم خصائص الندبة من حيث الأوعية الدموية، التصبغ، الليونة، والارتفاع باستخدام مقياس فانكوفر المعدل قبل وبعد التدخل. النتائج :أظهرت جميع المجموعات تحسنًا كبيرًا في صلابة الندبة بعد التدخل (p < 0.001)، وكانت أعلى نسبة تحسن في المجموعة (أ)، تليها المجموعتان (ب) و(ج). كما وجدت فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين المجموعات في صلابة الندبة بعد العلاج (p < 0.05). تحسنت درجات مقياس فانكوفر المعدل بشكل ملحوظ في جميع المجموعات (p < 0.001)، وسجلت المجموعة (أ) أعلى نسبة انخفاض. كما تم تسجيل فروق معنوية في درجات مقياس فانكوفر المعدل بين المجموعات الثلاث بعد العلاج .(p < 0.05) الخلاصة: إن الدمج بين العلاج بشريط كينيسيو والعلاج بالضوء المستقطب يؤدي إلى تحسينات أفضل في نتائج ندبات الحروق المتضخمة مقارنة بكل علاج منفرد، ويوصى بإستخدام هذا النهج المركب في بروتوكولات التأهيل لندبات الحروق المتضخمة. |
