| Summary, etc. | Purpose :This study was conducted to compare between active resistive <br/>exercises and lymphatic drainage on upper limb in patients with secondary <br/>lymphedema. Subject and methods: Thirty females diagnosed clinically by <br/>physician as having upper limb secondary lymphedema. They suffered from <br/>moderate lymphedema based on clinical investigations. Their age ranged from <br/>40 to 50 years. They were assigned randomly into two groups (A, B) equal in <br/>number. Group A received active resistive exercises plus intermittent <br/>pneumatic compression three times per week for 12 weeks. Group B received <br/>manual lymphatic drainage plus the intermittent pneumatic compression. The <br/>treatment was applied for 12 weeks, three sessions per week. Lymphedema <br/>and upper limb functions were assessed by tape measurement and the upper <br/>limb lymphedema -27 questionnaire after 12 weeks. Results: There was no <br/>statistically significant difference between both groups in upper limb size and <br/>function (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Both active resistive exercises and manual <br/>lymphatic drainage were effective in the management of upper limb secondary <br/>lymphedema. This makes them clinically effective in treating these patients. |

| Summary, etc. | اجريت هذه الدراسة لمعرفه تأثير تاثير تمارين المقاومة النشطة مقابل التصريف الليمفاوي لدي المرضي المصابين بالورم الليمفاوي الثانوي , حيث شارك في هذه الدراسة ثلاثون مريضه من الاناث وتم تقسيمهم عشوائيا الي مجموعتين متساويتين في العدد . المجموعة الاولي تلقوا العلاج بتمارين المقاومة النشطةبالإضافة الي جهاز الضغط الهوائي لمده12 اسبوع اما المجموعة الثانية تلقوا العلاج بالتصريف الليمفاوي اليدوي بالإضافة الي جهاز الضغط الهوائي ايضا لمده 12 اسبوع وتم تقييم المجموعتين قبل العلاج وبعد 12 اسبوع باستخدام القياسات المحيطية و استبيان ULL-27لقياس الورم الليفي في الذراع. وقد اظهرت النتائج انه لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في المجموعتين على المحيط الدائري والجودةالوظيفية في الطرف العلوي. |
