| Summary, etc. | Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is considered one of the most <br/>common endocrine disorders in females of reproductive age. It is a complex <br/>disorder with reproductive, metabolic, and psychological features which <br/>differently affect the early- and long-term syndrome’s risks. Physical therapy plays <br/>an important role in management of PCOS, it helps to reduce symptoms, prevent <br/>complications and improve quality of lifestyle. <br/>Objective: This study was intended to assess gynecologists’ awareness of physical <br/>therapy’s role in PCOS management. <br/>Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in governmental and private <br/>hospitals and private clinics in Cairo. Three hundred ninety-nine gynecologists <br/>were recruited for this study. A closed-ended self-administered questionnaire was <br/>used to collect data on the demographics, knowledge and awareness about physical <br/>therapy role in management of polycystic ovarian syndrome. Following the <br/>participant’s completion of the questionnaire, it was collected on the spot, and the <br/>collected spots were analyzed. <br/>Results: Almost half of the Gynecologists (49.4%) answered “yes” that managing <br/>PCOS rely only on medical and surgical management. The overall average of <br/>Gynecologists knowledge about the physical therapy modalities to manage PCOS <br/>complaints was low. The association between academic level with awareness of <br/>gynecologists showed agreement among resident compared with consultant and <br/>specialist that managing PCOS rely only on medical and surgical management. <br/>Conclusion: A significant proportion of gynecologists indicated that they were <br/>somewhat aware of the role that physiotherapy care could play in managing <br/>patients with PCOS and that they would consider referring patients in the future. <br/>Major variances in awareness were found between the gynecologists in this study’s <br/>categories. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: و تعد متلازمة تكيس المبايض واحدة من إضطرابات الغدد الصماء الأكثر شيوعاً لدى الإناث فى سن الإنجاب. وهى إضطراب معقد يتميز بسمات إنجابية، أيضية، نفسية والتى تؤثر بشكل مختلف على مخاطر المتلازمة المبكرة والطويلة الأجل. يلعب العلاج الطبيعي دورًا مهمًا فى علاج متلازمة تكيس المبايض، فهو يساعد على تقليل الأعراض ومنع المضاعفات وتحسين جودة نمط الحياة. الغرض من البحث: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى قياس مدى وعي أطباء أمراض النساء حول دور العلاج الطبيعى فى علاج متلازمة تكيس المبايض. الأشخاص والأساليب: أجريت هذه الدراسة فى مستشفيات وعيادات خاصة مختلفة فى محافظة القاهرة. شارك ثلاثمائة وتسعة وتسعين طبيب نساء بهذه الدراسة. و قد تم استخدام استبيان مغلق ذاتي اونلاين لجمع البيانات عن التركيبة السكانية والمعرفة والوعي حول دور العلاج الطبيعى فى علاج متلازمة تكيس المبيض. بعد قيام المشاركين بملء الإستبيان، تم جمعه فى الموقع، ثم تحليل البيانات المجمعة. النتائج: أجاب ما يقرب من نصف أطباء أمراض النساء (٤٩.٤%) بـ "نعم" بأن علاج متلازمة تكيس المبايض تعتمد فقط على العلاج الطبي والجراحي. كان المتوسط الإجمالي لمعرفة أطباء أمراض النساء حول طرق العلاج الطبيعي لعلاج شكاوى متلازمة تكيس المبايض منخفضًا. أظهرت العلاقة بين المستوى الأكاديمي ووعي أطباء أمراض النساء توافقًا بين الأطباء المقيمين مقارنة مع الاستشاريين والأخصائين على أن علاج متلازمة تكيس المبايض يعتمد فقط على العلاج الطبي والجراحي. الخلاصة: أظهر عدد كبيرمن أطباء أمراض النساء مستويات عالية من الوعي تجاه خدمات العلاج الطبيعى فى علاج مرضى متلازمة تكيس المبيض، وأنهم قد يفكرون في إحالة المرضى فى المستقبل. تم تحديد التباين الكبير في مستوى الوعي بين فئات الأطباء في هذه الدراسة. |
