| Summary, etc. | Background: Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome is a prevalent orthopedic <br/>disorder, especially among young adults and athletes. It presents with <br/>anterior knee pain that is aggravated by activities such as stair climbing, <br/>squatting, and prolonged sitting. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate <br/>the effect of cryotherapy on pain intensity, knee function, and kinematic gait <br/>parameters in patients with chronic Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. <br/>Materials and Methods: Sixty patients diagnosed with Patellofemoral Pain <br/>Syndrome (both genders, their age ranged from 18–40 years and their BMI <br/>ranged from 18-24.9 kg/m²) were randomly assigned into two equal groups. <br/>Group A (control) (n=30) received Traditional Physical Therapy <br/>(Strengthening exercises, Stretching exercises, ultrasound and <br/>electrotherapy), while Group B (study)(n=30) received the same traditional <br/>treatment combined with cryotherapy. Pain intensity was assessed using the <br/>Visual Analogue Scale, knee function with the Lower Extremity Functional <br/>Scale, and gait parameters (step length, walking speed, step cycle, step length <br/>coefficient of variation) via Biodex Gait Trainer. The intervention was done <br/>three times weekly for four weeks. Results: According to Mixed MANOVA <br/>which was used for statistical analysis, this study revealed that both groups <br/>showed significant improvements in all measured outcomes post-treatment (p <br/>< 0.001). However, Group B demonstrated significantly greater <br/>improvements in step length (43.86% vs. 38.78%), walking speed (62.75% <br/>vs. 2.00%), step cycle (31.82% vs. 22.39%), and Lower Extremity Functional <br/>Scale (78.19% vs. 56.01%). A significantly greater reduction in step length <br/>coefficient of variation was observed in Group B (86.12% vs. 78.79), Visual <br/>Analogue Scale scores (58.55% vs. 49.81%). <br/>Conclusion: Cryotherapy, when combined with traditional physical therapy, <br/>offers superior improvements in pain relief, knee function, and kinematic gait <br/>parameters in patients with chronic Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome compared <br/>to traditional therapy alone. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية:متلازمة ألم الرضفة الفخذية اضطرابٌ عظميٌّ شائع، خاصةً بين الشباب والرياضيين. تظهر على شكل ألمٍ في الركبة الأمامية، يتفاقم مع أنشطةٍ مثل صعود السلالم، والقرفصاء، والجلوس لفتراتٍ طويلة.الهدف: هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى دراسة تأثير العلاج بالتبريد على شدة الألم ووظيفة الركبة ومعايير المشي الحركية لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من متلازمة آلام الرضفة الفخذية المزمنة.المواد والطرق: تم توزيع ستين مريضًا (من الجنسين، تتراوح أعمارهم بين 18 و40 عامًا، ومؤشر كتلة جسمهم بين 18- 24.9 كجم/م2) عشوائيًا على مجموعتين متساويتين. تلقت المجموعة أ (المجموعة الضابطة) (عددهم 30 مريضًا) العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي (تمارين تقوية، وتمارين تمدد، وموجات فوق صوتية، وعلاجًا كهربائيًا)، بينما تلقت المجموعة ب (مجموعة الدراسة) (عددهم 30 مريضًا) نفس العلاج التقليدي مع العلاج بالتبريد. تم تقييم شدة الألم باستخدام مقياس القياس البصري التناظري، ووظيفة الركبة باستخدام مقياس وظائف الأطراف السفلية، ومعايير المشي (طول الخطوة، وسرعة المشي، ودورة الخطوة، ومعامل تباين طول الخطوة) باستخدام جهاز تدريب المشي Biodex. تم إجراء التدخل ثلاث مرات أسبوعيًا لمدة أربعة أسابيع.النتائج: وفقًا لتحليل التباين المتعدد المختلط (MANOVA) المُستخدم للتحليل الإحصائي، أظهرت هذه الدراسة تحسنًا ملحوظًا في جميع النتائج المُقاسة بعد العلاج (قيمة الاحتمال < 0.001). ومع ذلك، أظهرت المجموعة (ب) تحسنًا ملحوظًا في طول الخطوة (43.86% مقابل 38.78%)، وسرعة المشي (62.75% مقابل 2.00%)، ودورة الخطوة (31.82% مقابل 22.39%)، ومقياس الأداء الوظيفي للأطراف السفلية (78.19% مقابل 56.01%). ولوحظ انخفاض ملحوظ في معامل تباين طول الخطوة في المجموعة (ب) (86.12% مقابل 78.79%)، ودرجات مقياس التناظر البصري (58.55% مقابل 49.81%).الاستنتاج: يقدم العلاج بالتبريد، عند دمجه مع العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي، تحسينات فائقة في تخفيف الألم ووظيفة الركبة ومعايير المشي الحركية لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من متلازمة آلام الرضفة الفخذية المزمنة مقارنة بالعلاج التقليدي وحده. |
