Summary, etc.	Child labour remains one of the most pressing socio-economic challenges facing developing <br/>countries, particularly in contexts where poverty, inequality, and weak institutional frameworks <br/>persist. In Egypt, despite legislative efforts and international commitments, millions of children <br/>continue to participate in labour activities, often at the expense of their education. This paper <br/>examines the impact of child labour on school enrollment at the primary level in Egypt, with the <br/>aim of identifying the key determinants influencing children‘s participation in labour and the <br/>subsequent trade-offs with education. <br/>The study applies both qualitative and quantitative approaches. A descriptive analysis highlights <br/>the socio-economic and institutional drivers of child labour, while a multiple linear regression <br/>model is employed to measure the effect of child labour, proxied by school dropout rates, on <br/>enrollment in primary education. The analysis relies on secondary data covering the period 2010 <br/>- 2022, sourced from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the <br/>World Bank, and the Ministry of Education. <br/>The findings indicate a statistically significant inverse relationship between child labour and <br/>primary school enrollment, confirming that higher levels of child labour are associated with <br/>reduced educational participation. The results further suggest that poverty, household <br/>characteristics, limited access to quality education, and inadequate public spending are major <br/>determinants shaping this relationship. <br/>This research contributes to the literature by providing updated empirical evidence on the <br/>labour–education nexus in Egypt and offers policy recommendations aimed at reducing child <br/>labour and improving access to education. The study underlines the importance of integrating <br/>socio-economic interventions with education policies to protect children‘s rights and to promote <br/>sustainable human capital development in Egypt.

Summary, etc.	عمالة الأطفال أحد أبرز التحديات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية التي تواجه الدول النامية، خاصة في السياقات التي يسودها الفقر وعدم المساواة وضعف الأطر المؤسسية. وفي مصر، ورغم الجهود التشريعية والالتزامات الدولية، ما زال ملايين الأطفال يشاركون في أنشطة العمل، غالبًا على حساب تعليمهم. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى بحث أثر عمالة الأطفال على الالتحاق بالمدارس الابتدائية في مصر، مع التركيز على تحديد العوامل الأساسية المؤثرة في مشاركة الأطفال في العمل وما يترتب على ذلك من مقايضات مع التعليم.<br/>تستخدم الدراسة مناهج نوعية وكمية على حد سواء. حيث يسلط التحليل الوصفي الضوء على المحركات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والمؤسسية عمالة الأطفال، بينما يُستخدم نموذج الانحدار الخطي المتعدد لقياس أثر عمالة الأطفال، والذي تم تمثيله بمعدلات التسرب من المدارس، على الالتحاق بالتعليم الابتدائي. اعتمد التحليل على بيانات ثانوية تغطي الفترة من 2010 إلى 2022، صادرة عن الجهاز المركزي للتعبئة العامة والإحصاء، والبنك الدولي، ووزارة التربية والتعليم.<br/>تشير النتائج إلى وجود علاقة عكسية ذات دلالة إحصائية بين عمالة الأطفال والالتحاق بالمدارس الابتدائية، حيث تؤكد أن ارتفاع معدلات عمالة الأطفال يرتبط بانخفاض المشاركة التعليمية. كما توضح النتائج أن الفقر وخصائص الأسر ومحدودية الوصول إلى التعليم الجيد وضعف الإنفاق العام تُعد من أبرز المحددات التي تشكل هذه العلاقة.<br/>تسهم هذه الدراسة في الأدبيات من خلال تقديم أدلة تجريبية حديثة حول العلاقة بين العمل والتعليم في مصر، وتطرح توصيات سياساتية تستهدف تقليل عمالة الأطفال وتحسين فرص الحصول على التعليم. وتؤكد الدراسة على أهمية دمج التدخلات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية مع السياسات التعليمية لحماية حقوق الأطفال وتعزيز تنمية رأس المال البشري المستدامة في مصر.
