| Summary, etc. | Objectives: To determine the difference between the effect of <br/>transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and capsicum plaster on emesis <br/>gravidarum. Design: Randomized clinical trial. Location: This study was <br/>conducted at Kasr Al Ainy University Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. Subjects: <br/>Fifty volunteers of pregnant women suffered from emesis gravidarum <br/>divided randomly into two equal groups. Their ages ranged from 20–35 <br/>years, Their body mass indices did not exceed 35 kg/ m2 .Their gestational <br/>ages were less than 20 weeks, They had mild to moderate nausea and <br/>vomiting and they had singleton pregnancy. Intervention: Group (A): <br/>received transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on p6 point for <br/>15 minutes daily for 30 consecutive days with following parameters <br/>Frequency: 80–120 Hz, Pulse width: 150 μs. Group (B): received capsicum <br/>plaster on p6 point for 12 hours per day for 30 consecutive days. Outcome <br/>measures: Rhodes index for nausea, vomiting and retching and modified <br/>pregnancy unique quantification of emesis. Evaluation was performed before <br/>and after treatment. Results: Within group comparison in group (A) and (B): <br/>there was significance difference in both groups between pre and post results <br/>in both questionnaires. between group comparisons: there was no significant <br/>difference between group (A) and (B) in intensity of distress due to retching, <br/>intensity of distress due to vomiting, volume of vomiting, amount and <br/>intensity of distress due to nausea per 24 hours. But there was significance <br/>difference between groups (A) and (B) in favor of group (B) in frequency of <br/>vomiting, frequency of retching, frequency and duration of nausea per 24 <br/>hours and in total score of both questionnaires. Conclusion: transcutaneous <br/>electrical nerve stimulation and capsicum plaster are both effective in the <br/>treatment of emesis gravidarum. Capsicum plaster is more effective than <br/>transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in decreasing the frequency of <br/>nausea, retching and vomiting and in decreasing the duration of nausea. |

| Summary, etc. | الأهداف: تهدف هذه الدراسه إلى تقييم تأثير التنبيه الكهربائى للعصب الحسي عبر الجلد مقابل شريط الكابسيكوم اللاصق على القىء والغثيان اثناء الحمل. التصميم: تجربة سريرية عشوائية<br/>الموقع: مستشفى قصر العيني الجامعي، القاهرة، مصر. المشاركون: خمسون امرأة حامل تعاني من القيء والغثيان والتهوع اثناء الحمل، تم تقسيمهن عشوائيا إلى مجموعتين متساويتين في العدد (أ,ب). تراوحت أعمارهن بين ٢٠ –۳٥ سنة، وعلى الا يتجاوز عمر الحمل ٢٠ اسبوع، و ان يكون القىء و الغثيان بدرجه خفيفه لمتوسطه وان يكون الحمل بجنين واحد.<br/>التدخل: مجموعة الدراسة (أ): تكونت من ٢٥ امرأة حامل تعاني من القيء والغثيان والتهوع اثناء الحمل تلقت كل منهن العلاج بواسطة التنبيه الكهربائى للعصب الحسي عبر الجلد علي منطقه (ب ٦ نقطه نيجوان للوخز بالإبر) بالمعطيات الأتية بتردد ۸٠– ۱٢٠هرتز، عرض نبضه ۱٥٠ مايكرو ثانيه لمده خمسه عشر دقيقه لمده ۳٠ يوم متتالية. مجموعة الدراسة (ب): تكونت من ٢٥ امرأة حامل تعاني من القيء والغثيان والتهوع اثناء الحمل تلقت كل منهن العلاج بواسطة شريط الكابسيكوم اللاصق على منطقه (ب ٦ نقطه نيجوان للوخز بالابر) لمده اثني عشر ساعة لمده ۳٠ يوم متتالية. التقييم: تم تقييم المجموعتان قبل وبعد الجلسات من خلال مؤشر رودس للقيء والغثيان والتهوع ومن خلال المقياس الكمي الفريد المعدل للقئ والغثيان والتهوع في الحمل. النتائج بالمقارنه بنتائج داخل المجموعات للمجموعة(أ) و(ب)تلاحظ وجود اختلاف ذو دلالة احصائية ملحوظة بين نتائج ما قبل وبعد العلاج في الاستبيانين. اما عند مقارنة نتائج ما بين المجموعات تبين عدم وجود اختلاف ذو دلالة احصائية ملحوظة للمجموعات(أ) و(ب) في شده الانزعاج من التهوع، في شده الانزعاج من التقيؤ، كميه التقيؤ وشده الانزعاج من الغثيان لكن يوجد اختلاف ذو دلاله إحصائية ملحوظة للمجموعات(أ) و(ب) في عدد مرات التقيؤ، التهوع، عدد مرات ومده الغثيان خلال ٢٤ ساعه وفي عدد النقاط الكلي للاستبيانين لصالح مجموعه (ب) الاستنتاج: التنبيه الكهربائى للعصب الحسي عبر الجلد وشريط الكابسيكوم اللاصق كلاهما مؤثران في علاج الغثيان والقيء والتهوع اثناء الحمل. شريط الكابسيكوم اللاصق مؤثر أكثر من التنبيه الكهربائى للعصب الحسي عبر الجلد في تقليل عدد مرات الغثيان والتهوع والقيء وتقليل مده الغثيان. |
