| Summary, etc. |
Isolation trials carried out from samples of cantaloupe plants suffering from vine decline and root rot located at Giza (El- Ayaat), Beni Suef (Seds), Behera (Wadi El Natrown), Matruh (Alhamam) and New Valley (Mut) governorates yielded 4 different fungal genera. These fungi were identified as Fusarium inflexum, F. oxysporum, F. nygamai, Sclerotium bataticola and Rhizoctonia solani. In addition to, F. ambrosium and Paecilomyces dactylethromorphus for the first time in Egypt. The most frequent isolated pathogen from rotted rot and vine decline of cantaloupe plants was R. solani. Meanwhile, the lowest percentage of frequency was recorded for Pa. dactylethromorphus. The pathogenicity of the isolated fungi revealed that the great percentage of cantaloupe root rot was recorded from soil infested with F. nygamai followed by R. solani. In contrast, the lowest percentage of root rot was recorded from plants grown in artificially infested soil with Pa. dactylethromorphus. The highest values of DSI were recorded for R. solani followed by F. nygamai respectively. On the other hand, the lowest value of DSI was recorded for F. oxysporum followed by Pa. dactylethromorphus. In vitro, evaluation the effect of three essential oils (EOs) Lemon grass, clove and peppermint oils on growth of the tested fungi with four concentrations. Lemon grass oil completely inhibited the growth of R. solani at any of the concentration. On the other hand, there was no effect on mycelial growth of S. bataticola at any of the concentration tested. For clove essential oil completely inhibited the growth of F. oxysporum, F. nygamai, F. ambrosium, R. solani and S. bataticola at any of the concentration tested. As to Peppermint oil, show complete inhibition for the growth of S. bataticola occurred at concentration 4%.On contrast there was no effect on mycelial growth of F.inflexum at any of the concentration tested. Cultural filtrate of Spirulina platensis completely inhibited the growth of R. solani at any of the concentration tsested. On contrast there was not any effect on the growth of Pa. dactylethromorphus at concentration 20%. As to cultural filtrate of Chlorella vulgaris completely inhibited the growth of F. inflexum at concentrations 60 and 80%.Meanwhile, there was not any effect on the growth of F. inflexum, Pa. dactylethromorphus, R. solani and Fusarium ambrosium at concentration 20%.Effect of three fungicides Uniform SC 39%, Maxim XL 3.5 % and Double WP 56% on growth of the tested fungi with four concentrations. Fungicide Double completely inhibited the growth of F. inflexum and S. bataticola at any of the concentrations tested. The fungicide Uniform completely inhibited the growth of R. solani at any of the concentration tested. The fungicide Maxim completely inhibited the growth of S. bataticola at any of the concentration tested. In contrast, there was no effect on mycelial growth of F. ambrosium at any concentrations tested. Transplants treated with essential oils (EOs), cyanobacterial, nanoparticles and chemical control gave good results in reducing incidence of root rot in plants, increase oxidative reductive enzymes and growth parameters of treated transplants. |

| Summary, etc. |
