| Summary, etc. | In the vast and complex realm of maritime commerce, where massive vessels carry invaluable cargo across unpredictable seas, creating a complex landscape of risk that demands sophisticated risk management approaches. This study examines marine liability risks and their insurance form and mechanisms while developing a flexible modeling tool for predicting claim arrivals of claim events.<br/>This thesis examines marine liability risks and their insurance mechanisms while developing a flexible forecasting model for claim arrivals that can function effectively with limited historical data. The study provides comprehensive comparative analysis of market insurance and Protection & Indemnity (P&I) Clubs, revealing how these distinct mechanisms address different liability categories through complementary coverage structures. Further analysis investigates the establishment patterns of P&I Clubs across international and national contexts, extracting lessons from successful implementations.<br/>To represent the temporal dynamics in a flexible framework, both homogeneous and non-homogeneous Poisson process models are employed. The non-homogeneous model with Gaussian kernel estimation proved to be a robust approach in comparison to constant-intensity homogeneous specification. A further analysis involved comparing model performance under independence and time-varying intensity assumptions, in which the non-homogeneous specification with weekly-scale kernel smoothing demonstrated superior forecasting capability. The model successfully validated through Anderson-Darling and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests while requiring minimal input data. The comparative analysis demonstrates that market insurance provides limited collision liability coverage with extensive exclusions, while P&I Clubs offer comprehensive protection for third-party liabilities. Analysis of P&I Club development patterns indicates that successful establishments emerge from genuine market needs and grow through demonstrated operational value, with national clubs serving underserved segments through local expertise. |

| Summary, etc. | الغرض - تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل مخاطر المسؤولية البحرية وآليات تأمينها، مع تطوير نموذج تنبؤي مرن لتقدير وصول المطالبات. كما تتناول الدراسة أنماط تأسيس أندية الحماية والتعويض (P&I Clubs) على المستويين الدولي والوطني، مستخلصةً الدروس التي يمكن تطبيقها في تطوير أندية إقليمية.<br/>التصميم / المنهجية / النهج – استندت الدراسة إلى بيانات المجموعة الدولية لأندية الحماية والتعويض، والتي تغطي 1,046 حادثة على مدى عشرين عاماً (1999–2019). وتم تطبيق نماذج عمليات بواسون المتجانسة وغير المتجانسة لتحليل وصول المطالبات، إلى جانب استخدام تقدير النواة غاوس غير بارمتري (non-parametric Gaussian kernel estimation) والنموذج الخطي اللوغاريتمي باراميترى (parametric log-linear specifications). كما جرى التحقق من صلاحية النماذج إحصائياً باستخدام اختبارات أندرسون–دارلينغ وكولموغوروف–سميرنوف.<br/>النتائج - أظهرت النتائج أن مطالبات المسؤولية البحرية تتبع عملية بواسون غير متجانسة ذات شدة متناقصة مع الزمن. وقدّم تقدير النواة غاوس أداءً تفوق النماذج الأخرى، مع نجاح التحقق الإحصائي واعتماده على حد أدنى من البيانات.<br/>الأصالة / القيمة / المساهمة - تعتبر هذه الدراسة، حسب علم الباحث، أول بحث تجريبي يقوم بمقارنة منهجية بين التأمين البحري التجاري وتغطيات أندية الحماية والتعويض، ويطوّر نموذجاً تنبؤي قادرًا على العمل بفعالية مع حد أدنى من البيانات، كما يحلل أنماط تأسيس الأندية على المستويين الدولي والمحلي. |
