| Summary, etc. | Background: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between abdominal obesity—quantified by waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio —and the strength and endurance of the gluteal musculature in young and middle-aged adults.<br/>Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed, involving 78 asymptomatic participants aged 18 to 45 years, who were stratified into abdominally obese and non-abdominally obese groups based on waist-to-hip ratio criteria. Muscle strength was assessed using a Lafayette handheld dynamometer, and endurance was measured via standardized protocols (Gluteal Endurance Measure – Abduction) and (gluteal endurance muscle -Bridging). Anthropometric variables were recorded using validated tools, including the mechanical column scale and flexible tape for waist and hip measurements.<br/>Results: The results demonstrated weak, statistically significant positive correlations between Waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio with gluteus maximus strength in both groups. Gluteus Medius strength and endurance revealed fewer significant associations. Body mass index showed weak and inconsistent correlations with muscle performance.<br/>Conclusion: Abdominal adiposity measures provide superior insight into muscle performance outcomes compared to Body mass index alone. Evaluating central fat distribution is crucial for designing targeted musculoskeletal intervention strategies. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل العلاقة بين السمنة البطنية – والتي تم قياسها من خلال محيط الخصر، ونسبة الخصر إلى الورك، ومؤشر كتلة الجسم – وبين قوة وتحمل عضلات الأرداف لدى البالغين من الشباب ومتوسطي العمر.<br/>المنهجية: تم اعتماد تصميم مقطعي شمل ثمانية وسبعين مشاركًا لا يعانون من أعراض مرضية، تتراوح أعمارهم بين 18 و45 عامًا، وتم تقسيمهم إلى مجموعتين حسب وجود السمنة البطنية استنادًا إلى معيار نسبة الخصر إلى الورك. تم قياس القوة العضلية باستخدام جهاز "لافاييت" المحمول لقياس الديناميكا العضلية، وجرى تقييم التحمل من خلال بروتوكولات قياسية. كما تم تسجيل القياسات (GEM-A و GEM-B) الأنثروبومترية باستخدام أدوات موثوقة مثل الميزان العمودي الميكانيكي وشريط قياس مرن لمحيط الخصر والورك.<br/>النتائج: كشفت النتائج عن وجود ارتباطات إيجابية معتدلة ذات دلالة إحصائية بين محيط الخصر ونسبة الخصر إلى الورك مع قوة العضلة الألوية الكبرى في كلا المجموعتين. أما قوة وتحمل العضلة الألوية الوسطى، فقد أظهرت ارتباطات أقل أهمية. كما أن مؤشر كتلة الجسم ارتبط بشكل ضعيف وغير منتظم بأداء العضلات. الاستنتاج: تُعد مقاييس توزيع الدهون الإقليمي مثل محيط الخصر ونسبة الخصر إلى الورك أكثر دقة في التنبؤ بأداء العضلات مقارنةً بمؤشر كتلة الجسم فقط. إن تقييم توزيع الدهون المركزية يعتبر أمرًا بالغ<br/>الأهمية عند تصميم استراتيجيات تدخل علاجية عضلية هيكلية مستهدفة. |
