| Summary, etc. | Background: Worldwide, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women accounting for over a million cases each year. Mammography still remains the gold standard for early detection of breast cancer, However, limitations exist So other techniques were added. Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM) allows better estimation of the lesion size and detection of multifocal breast cancers. Automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) is an innovation of breast ultrasound that attains 3-D images of the entire breast overcoming the limitations of hand-held ultrasound.<br/>Patients and Methods: The study had been done at the Female Imaging Unit of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo University and in Baheya Foundation. One hundred and six patients were randomly chosen out of patients who were initially given BIRADS IV – V by standard mammography.<br/>The contrast enhanced digital mammography and 3D automated ultrasound data were evaluated by two experienced radiologists; both observers were blinded to the pathological data of each patient.<br/> Results: Regarding primary oustcome of our study in assessment of tumor size ,extension and multiplicity,the use of ABUS after CESM showed significant increase in the senistivity of the test, with overall increased accuracy in detection of suspicious lesions . |

| Summary, etc. | تعتمد خطة علاج مريضة سرطان الثدى على مرحلة المرض والتي بدورها تحدد عن طريق معرفة حجم الورم<br/>ومدى إنتشاره في الجسم وأيضا خصائصه البيولوجية المختلفة. كما يدخل عمر المريضة أيضا في الإعتبار<br/>عند تحديد إسلوب علاجها.و يستخدم التصوير الشعاعى للثدى بالإضافة إلى التصوير الشعاعى للثدى بالصبغة كإحدى وسائل تحديد مرحلة سرطان الثدى، ولكنهما يعرضان المريضة لمخاطر التعرض للإشعاع وأيضا لحدوث الأعراض الجانبية<br/>للصبغات المستخدمة أثناء الفحص.يعتبر التشخيص بالموجات فوق الصوتية مكملا للتشخيص بالتصوير الشعاعى للثدى. وتهدف الدراسة الحالية إلى مقارنة نتائج التصوير الشعاعى للثدى بالصبغة والموجات فوق الصوتية الآلية في معرفة حجم الورم و مدى إنتشاره الموضعى ووجود أكثر من بؤرة سرطانية في الثدى. وتتم مقارنة هذه النتائج بنتائج الفحص الباثولوجى الذى يتم بعد إجراء الجراحة المطلوبة كمجموعة ضابطة.<br/>وخلصت هذه الدراسة إلى أن يمكن استخدام الموجات فوق الصوتية الآلية كبديل للتصويرالشعاعى للثدى<br/>بالصبغة في تحديد مرحلة سرطان الثدى حيث أنه لا يحمل أى مخاطر للتعرض للإشعاع أو إستخدام الصبغات<br/>كما أنه سريع و سهل الإستخدام بطريقة غير تداخلية و لا يعتمد على طبيب الأشعة الذى يقوم باستخدامه.<br/>و إتضح أن نتائجه مماثلة للتصوير الشعاعى للثدى بالصبغة في تحديد حجم الورم كما أنه أكثر دقة في تقييم<br/>مدى الإنتشار الموضعى. إلا أن التصويرالشعاعى للثدى بالصبغة هو الأفضل في تحديد وجود أكثر من بؤرة<br/>سرطانية في الثدى المصاب. و لهذا فتوصى الدراسة بالإستخدام التكاملى للموجات فوق الصوتية الآلية و<br/>التصويرالشعاعى للثدى في الإكتشاف المبكر و في تحديد مرحلة إنتشار سرطان الثدى |
