An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of two levels (3 and 5%) of local produced dried orange peel powder (DOP) with or without supplementation of exogenous Xylanase enzyme (50g/ ton feed) on zoo-technical performance, immunity and antioxidant status of broiler chickens. Five hundred, Cobb broiler chicks as hatch were used in this investigation, broiler chicks were weighed and randomly allocated into 5 dietary groups. Each group was subdivided into four replicates containing 25 chicks/each in 20 floor pens. The first group was control and fed the basal diet (corn-soybean meal) basal diet only. Supplemented groups A and B were Fed on the reformulated basal diets supplemented with 3% and 5% of dried orange peel powder (DOP) respectively. While groups C and D were fed on reformulated basal diets supplemented with 3% and 5% dried orange peel powder and fortified with 50g/ton feed Xylanase. The control and Supplemented diet were formulated to be isocaloric and isonitrogenous. At the end of the experiment (Day 35), blood serum sample were collected from twenty birds / group (5 birds/replicate). Some immune parameters and antioxidant biomarkers are investigated. The collected birds were eviscerated after slaughtering to record some parameters of carcass Characteristics. Our result were, the dietary supplementation of DOP with or without Xylanase enzyme to broiler chicken significantly (p<0.05) improved Body weight, Body weight gain, Feed conversion ratio, Antibody titer against NDV, Lysozymes, SOD activity. However, there were significantly (p<0.05) reduction in malondialdehyde (MDA) as antioxidant biomarker. There were no significantly difference in carcass characteristics (carcass weights, dressing percent, liver and abdominal fat) were not affected between different groups.
In conclusion, the use of local Egyptian dried orange powder (DOP) supplementation with or without Xylanase enzyme was cost effective and significant improved in growth performance parameter, immune status parameter, antioxidant parameter.
