Summary: The purpose of this study is to examine the direct effect of entrepreneurial orientation dimensions (risk-taking, innovativeness, proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness, and autonomy) on Egyptian family firms, as well as the moderating effect of socioemotional wealth on these relationships. The targeted population of interest is family firms in Egypt; all the 71 family firms registered on the Egyptian exchange. A structural equation model and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences that prepares and analyzes the data collected. This study aims to fill the gap in the literature in three ways. First, consider entrepreneurial orientation using the multidimensional approach, which has rarely been used in the empirical family firm literature, to investigate how risk-taking, innovativeness, proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness, and autonomy affect family firm performance. Second, this study aims to bridge a significant gap in the existing literature by examining the implications of a noteworthy finding: family businesses demonstrate a willingness to prioritize the preservation of their socioemotional wealth over the economic well-being of the firm. Additionally, this research explores how socioemotional wealth influences the relationship between overall entrepreneurial orientation and the performance of family firms. Accordingly, the study investigates the role of socioemotional wealth preservation as a possible moderator on the relationships between the five entrepreneurial orientation dimensions and family firm performance in Egypt. Third, the study extends existing work on the entrepreneurial orientation of family businesses, especially in the Egyptian context. The findings of this study showed that only some of the entrepreneurial orientation dimensions are equally crucial for performance, as in the first place is the competitive aggressiveness dimension, then autonomy, risk-taking, proactiveness, and finally, innovativeness dimension, which is less impact on performance. The entrepreneurial orientation influences the family firm's performance and socioemotional wealth significantly moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and family firms' performance. Summary: تهدف الدراسة الحالية إلى دراسة التأثير المباشر للتوجه الريادي بأبعاده الخمسة (المخاطرة، والابتكار، والاستباقية، والعدوانية التنافسية، والاستقلالية) على أداء الشركات العائلية المصرية، فضلاً عن التأثير المعدل للثروة الاجتماعية العاطفية على هذه العلاقة، وتمثل مجتمع الدراسة في الشركات العائلية في مصر البالغ عددها 71 شركة والمسجلة في البورصة المصرية. وقد استخدمت الباحثة برنامج (الحزمة الإحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية) بغرض إعداد وتحليل البيانات التي تم جمعها، وتم تطبيق نموذج المعادلة الهيكلية. وقد أظهرت نتائج هذه الدراسة أن بعض أبعاد التوجه الريادي ليس لها نفس الأهمية في الأداء، ففي المرتبة الأولى جاء البعد العدواني التنافسي، ثم الاستقلالية، والمخاطرة، والاستباقية، وأخيراً البعد الابتكاري وهو الأقل تأثيراً على أداء الشركات العائلية في مصر، كما أن الثروة الاجتماعية العاطفية تلعب دوراً هاماً كمتغير معدل في العلاقة العلاقة بين التوجه الريادي وأداء الشركات العائلية في مصر.
