تُعد السياحة قطاعًا اقتصاديًا رائدًا بالنسبة لاقتصاديات العديد من الدول وذلك لما توفره من مصادر للنقد الأجنبي والعمالة المباشرة وغير المباشرة وغيرها من العوائد المختلفة. وبالرغم من مساهمتها الإيجابية في التنمية الاقتصادية إلا أنه يرتبط بأنشطتها المختلفة تأثيرات سلبية على البيئة تُعيق بعض أبعاد التنمية. ولذلك ظهرت التوجهات الحديثة بضرورة الاهتمام بالبعد البيئي لصناعة السياحة من أجل تعظيم مساهمتها في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة. وعليه، تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل أهمية التحول نحو السياحة الخضراء بالتطبيق على مصر من خلال تقييم الوعي البيئي لدى قطاع الفنادق المصرية بالالتزام بالبرامج البيئية والعوائد المتحققة من وراء ذلك بالإضافة الي أهم التحديات التي لازالت تواجه القطاع. وتم الاعتماد على منهجية الاستبيان وتوجيها لقطاع الفنادق المصرية، بالإضافة إلى استخدام التحليل الوصفي لبيانات العينة ويتبعه التحليل القياسي باستخدام نمذجة المعادلات الهيكلية (SEM). وتوصلت نتائج الدراسة إلى أن هناك وعي عام لدى قطاع الفنادق المصرية – سواء كانت فنادق معتمدة بيئيا أم لا - بالشئون البيئية وذلك باتباع عدة برامج في مجالات هامة ومؤثرة على البيئة وأهمها الطاقة والمياه والمخلفات الصلبة، كما لمست العديد من العوائد وكان أهمها هي العوائد الاقتصادية متمثلة في تقليل تكاليف استهلاك الموارد الأولية، ويعد ارتفاع تكاليف التنفيذ والتطبيق من أكثر التحديات التي تواجه القطاع، مما يتطلب مزيد من الجهود الحكومية لتوفير التسهيلات الائتمانية لدعم التكنولوجيا الخضراء والتدريب والخبرة اللازمة للتعامل معها.

Tourism is a leading economic sector for the economies of many countries because of the sources it provides of foreign exchange, direct and indirect employment, and other various returns. Despite its positive contribution to economic development, its various activities are associated with negative impacts on the environment that hinder some dimensions of development. Therefore, recent trends have emerged in the need to pay attention to the environmental dimension of the tourism industry to maximize its contribution to sustainable development. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the importance of the shift towards green tourism in application to Egypt by assessing the environmental awareness of the Egyptian hotel sector in terms of commitment to environmental programs and the returns achieved from this, in addition to the most important challenges that still face the sector. The questionnaire methodology was relied upon, and it was directed to the Egyptian hotel sector, in addition to using descriptive analysis for the sample data, followed by econometric analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results of the study concluded that there is general awareness in the Egyptian hotel sector - whether they are environmentally certified hotels or not - about environmental affairs, through following several programs in important areas affecting the environment, the most important of which are energy, water, and solid waste. It also touched upon many returns, the most important of which were the economic returns, represented by in reducing the costs of consuming primary resources, the high costs of implementation and application are among the most important challenges facing the sector, which requires more government efforts to provide credit facilities to support green technology and the training and expertise necessary to deal with it.
