Museums and communities have mutual relationship that develops through time. One of them is the socio-cultural role the museum has towards its community. Buildings that are integrated, accessible and familiar to its surrounding community foster a sense of belonging and connection between the museum and the local visitors. Similarly, activities that meet the local visitors’ needs and encourage interaction enhance the local visitors’ relation to the museum. This research sets guidelines for the museum building design and activities to enhance museum and community interaction. This research recommends that more attention is needed for the museums elements that enhance the local visitors experience in Egypt.

إن العلاقة المتبادلة بين المتحف والمجتمع هي علاقة متطورة مع مرور الوقت. وأحد هذه العلاقات الهامة اليوم هو الدور الاجتماعي والثقافي الذي يلعبه المتحف تجاه مجتمعه. يعد تصميم مبنى المتحف أحد هذه العناصر التي تشكل هذه العلاقة. من اهم المبادئ بالنسبة لمبني المتحف هي الاندماج والنفاذية الاجتماعية، الاتصال وسهولة الوصول، ووضوح الهوية بالنسبة للمجتمع المحيط تعزز الإحساس بالانتماء والترابط بين المتحف والزائرين المحليين. وبالمثل، فإن الأنشطة التي تلبي احتياجات الزائرين المحليين وتشجع على التفاعل تعزز علاقة الزائرين المحليين بالمتحف وتزيد من معدل زياراتهم. ويضع البحث إرشادات لتصميم مبنى المتحف والأنشطة لتعزيز التفاعل بين المتحف والمجتمع. ويوصي بضرورة إعطاء المزيد من الاهتمام لعناصر المتحف التي تعزز تجربة الزائرين المحليين في مصر.
