شكلت مدن شبه الجزيرة العربية حلقة وصل بين التجارة البحرية والبرية فضلا عن كونها مراكز مهمه للأنشطة البحرية وتجلت أهمية هذه المدن خلال العصر الهللينستي، كما انعكست هذه الأهمية في كل من المعبودات والمعابد، فشهدت هذه المدن دخول معبودات يونانية على المعبودات المحلية كما اتخذت بعض المعبودات المحلية أسماءً وطقوسا يونانية خالصة. وقد توافرت معلومات مهمة عن الحياة الدينية لليونانيين في هذه المدن من خلال عدد من المصادر الأدبية مثل اريان وسترابون وغيرهم، واعتمادا على هذه المصادر والاشارات الواردة في الدراسات والمكتشفات الحديثة لهذه الدراسة المقترحة إلى تبادل الحياة الدينية ولمراحل التأثير والتأثر بين المعبودات المحلية والاغريقية فضلا عن أثر الجغرافيا في وجود هذه المعبودات وطقوسها، بالإضافة إلى ما ورد من مشاهد على الأثار المكتشفة في الجزيرة العربية حتى الآن.

The cities of the Arabian Peninsula formed a link between maritime and land trade as well as important centers for maritime activities.
