Growth and survival of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) B cells are favored by interactions between CLL and non tumoral accessory cellsInteraction between nurse - like cells (NLCs) and cells in vivo could help to sustain leukemia cell survival and mitigate the activity of drugs use to treat this disease The over expression of CD40 and CXCR4 and the defective expression of CD80 and CD86 in CLL patients mal be a major cause of growth , survival and failure of T - cell immunity against leukemic cells
