تهدف الدراسة إلى تحليل تأثير التفاعلات الهيدروبوليتيكية الصراعية والتعاونية في حوضي نهري كولورادو وكولومبيا على "مثلث الماء والطاقة والغذاء"، ودراسة العلاقة بين الماء والطاقة والغذاء في حوضي النهرين، وانعكاسات ذلك على مواجهة العديد من التحديات مثل: التغيرات المناخية كالجفاف والفيضانات، والحاجة لزيادة حصة كل دولة من المياه لمواجهة الزيادات المُطردة في عدد سكانها وضرورة تلبية احتياجاتهم الأساسية. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن الدول والولايات المشاطئة لحوضي نهري كولورادو وكولومبيا نجحت في تحقيق الربط بين الماء والطاقة والغذاء، من خلال تعزيز التفاعلات الهيدروبوليتيكية التعاونية، مما ساهم في تثبيط الصراعات في الحوضين، وذلك رغم التحديات العديدة التي شابت هاتين المنطقتين والتي ربما ساعدت على دفع جهودها المشتركة لتحقيق الربط بين الماء والطاقة والغذاء بما يحقق أمن الماء والطاقة والغذاء، وهو الأمر الذي ساهم في تعزيز التعاون المائي والحدّ من الصراع بين الولايات والدول المُشاطئة لحوضي النهرين.

The study aims to analyze the impact of both conflict and cooperative hydro-political interactions in the Colorado and Columbia River basins on the "water-energy-food nexus." It also examines the relationship between water, energy, and food in these basins, and the implications of this relationship for addressing challenges such as climate change, including droughts and floods. Additionally, it considers the need to increase each country's share of water to meet the growing population and ensure basic needs are met. The study concludes that the countries and states bordering the Colorado and Columbia River basins have succeeded in achieving the water-energy-food nexus by enhancing cooperative hydro-political interactions. This cooperation has contributed to reducing conflicts in the regions, despite ongoing challenges. These joint efforts have been instrumental in securing water, energy, and food, ultimately fostering water cooperation and minimizing conflict between the bordering states and countries.
