Summary: تسعى الدراسة إلى عقد مقارنة بين نظريتين مهمتين عن العلمانية، الأولى تعرفها باعتبارها خروجًا عن الدين، والثانية تفترض أن الديني والعلماني ليسا فئتين ثابتتين جوهريًا، وذلك من خلال التحليل السياسي والسوسيو- تاريخي والأنثروبولوجي للمصطلحين وإظهار علاقتهما الجدلية، وأنماط العلاقات التي ربطت تاريخهما المشترك ما بين الرفض والاستلهام والقبول الحذر. ولا يقتصر الأمر على الدين المسيحي فحسب بل يمتد النقاش إلى الدين الإسلامي وطبيعته علاقته بالعلمانية ماضيًا وحاضرًا ومستقبلًا. Summary: This study seeks to make a comparison between two important theories of secularism, the first defines it as a departure from religion, and the second assumes that the religious and the secular are not essentially fixed categories, Through the political, socio-historical and anthropological analysis of the two terms, and showing their dialectical relationship, and the patterns of relations that linked their history between rejection, inspiration, and Cautious acceptance. The study is not limited solely to the Christian religion, but the discussion extends to the Islamic religion and its relationship with secularism in the past, present and future.
