Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc)-Cairo University, 2024. Summary: Aim: This study aimed to compare the effect of socket shield technique versus allograft buccal sheet technique in buccal bone resorption after immediate implant placement in esthetic region. Methodology: This randomized clinical study included 22 patients, with upper anterior remaining root indicated for immediate dental implant. Group (1) included 11 patients who treated with immediate dental implant with socket shield technique (control group), and group (2) (study group), included 11patients in which immediate dental implant utilizing buccal sheet technique. In both groups, Bone height and width were radiographically analyzed and carefully reported pre, immediate, and 4 months post-operative, Moreover, A pink esthetic score was recorded and statistically evaluated 4-month post-operative. Results: Both groups showed bone resorption 4 months postoperative. The decrease in bone width and height in control group was higher than the study group However, this difference was statistically non-significant with p-value (p>0.05). Regarding the pink esthetic score:. There is no statistically significant difference between the control group and the Study Group, with p-value (p>0.05) however the socket shield shows more satisfied results. Conclusion: Socket shield technique and allogenic buccal sheet techniques can prevent the resorption of buccal cortical plate of bone around the immediate dental implant. With no significant difference in bone loss between the two groups. However, using socket shield technique enhanced the soft tissue healing, more economic for patients and more comfortable for the patient. While utilizing buccal sheet technique enhance osteointegration, less technique sensitive and without donor site.
