Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the validity of Quick Ceph and Dolphin software in comparison to manual tracing. Methodology: Seventy-three lateral cephalograms of patients seeking orthodontic treatment at faculty of dentistry Cairo university were included. Manual and digital tracing using Quick Ceph and Dolphin software were performed on each one of them tracing two cephalograms per day. Nineteen measurements divided into twelve angular and seven linear measurements were performed on each x-ray by each of the three methods. Measurements results were collected into an Excel sheet for statistical analysis. Results: Comparison between manual and Dolphin groups revealed insignificant difference in all measurements as P>0.05. Comparison between manual and Quick Ceph groups revealed insignificant difference in all measurements as P>0.05 except Wits appraisal; Quick Ceph group readings was significantly higher than Manual group readings, and A-Nv. Linear measurement; Quick Ceph group readings was significantly lower than Manual group readings. Comparison between Dolphin and Quick Ceph groups revealed insignificant difference in all measurements as P>0.05 except Wits appraisal; Dolphin group readings were significantly lower than Quick Ceph group readings and A-Nv. linear measurement; Dolphin group readings were significantly higher than Quick Ceph group readings. Intra-observer and interobserver reliability of manual, Dolphin and Quick Ceph groups regarding all measurements revealed strong reliability (r > 0.7).
Conclusion: Cephalometric measurements produced by using both Quick Ceph and Dolphin software were matching those measurements resulted from the manual technique. Quick Ceph and Dolphin software can be used as a valid alternative method to the manual technique.

تم حساب العينه الخاصة بالبحث و ضمت ثلاث و سبعين أشعه جانبيه مثبته للرأس لمرضى تقويم الاسنان بكلية طب الاسنان جامعة القاهرة تم اخذهم باستخدام جهاز اشعه واحد بتثبيت الرأس في الوضع الطبيعي لها بحث يكون مستوي النظر افقيا موازيا للارض .
تم أخد تسعة عشر قياسا في هذة الدراسة متظمنين اثني عشر زاوية و سبع قياسات خطيةز
تم عمل التحليل و القياسات اليدويه باستخدام ورق شفاف مثبت علي الاشعه خاص بقياسات الاشعه . تم تثبيت الاشعه علي جهاز مضيء للرؤيا و استخدام قلم سنون 0.5 ملليميتر وشف الاماكن المراد عمل قياسات عليها في الرأس .
تم حساب نسبة التكبير عن طريق معادله بين القياس الفعلي للتدريج المطبوع في ورقه الاشعه باستخدام مسطره خارجية و قياس المسطره المطبوعة في الاشعه .و تعديل نتائج القياسات الخطية باستخدام المعادلة الناتجة عن الفق بين القياسين .
تم قياس تسعة عشر قياسا المحددين في هذه الدراسه و نقل النتائج الي جدول احصائي للمقارنه بين التحليل اليدوي و نتائج برنامجي دولفين و كويك ساف .
تم استخدام نسخة دايكوم للاشعه لتجنب اخطاء التكبير الناتجه عن المسح الضوئي للاشعه المطبوعه في برنامجي دولفين و كويك ساف. .
تم تحديد نسبه التكبير في البرنامجين عن طريق اخيار قياس خطي علي الاشعه في بداية القياس التحليلي و اختيار اماكن القياسات علي الاشعه.
تم نقل النتائج الي جدول احصاء للمقارنه بين برنامجي دولفين و كويك ساف .
باستخدام التحليل الاحصائى اظهرت النتائج ان :
لا يوجد فرق في القياسات بين القياس اليدوي و برنامج دولفين . -1
2-لا يوجد فرق في القياسات بين القياس اليدوي و برنامج كويك ساف باستثناء القياس الخطي للفرق بين الفك العلوي و السفلي علي خط التقاء الاسنان العلوية و السفليه حيث كانت نتائج برنامج كويك ساف أعلى من القياس اليدوي و القياس الخطي بين نقطة عظم الفك العلوي و خط رأسي عمودي على خط فرانكفورت حيث كانت نتائج برنامج كويك ساف أقل من القياس اليدوي
