The study evaluates the construction risks threatening the Mamluk archaeological
mausoleums in Cairo. Its purpose is to assess the level of risk these archaeological
structures face and propose a comprehensive scientific strategy to prevent deterioration
causes and treat existing damage effectively. The study consists of six chapters. The first
chapter presents a survey study of the most essential owned mausoleums in Cairo, along
with scientific documentation, architectural surveys, and a study of the construction
system of the mausoleum under investigation, which is "Al-Ashraf Khalil mausoleum".
The second chapter discusses the various factors and aspects of damage that affect the
mausoleum, which is the subject of the study, and evaluates the current situation. The
third chapter is dedicated to tests and analyses conducted on the mausoleum's building
materials to determine their mineralogical composition, physical properties, and
mechanical characteristics. The results were presented and discussed. The fourth chapter
includes the structural analysis of the mausoleum using the finite element method. It
explains the steps and stages of the structural analysis and discusses the results. The fifth
chapter of the study proposes a comprehensive scientific strategy for restoring and
preserving the mausoleum building based on internationally recognised scientific
standards in this field. This strategy extends beyond the building to include the
surrounding archaeological site as a practical aspect of this study. Each chapter begins
with a discussion of the literature (previous studies) that has addressed the subject of the
study. The study has been enhanced with various types of available documentation
(photography, maps, architectural drawings, etc.) utilising advanced engineering tools
and software. The study ended with chapter six, a general discussion, results and
conclusions, followed by recommendations and a list of scientific references covering
various topics related to the study.

تتناول الدراسة تقييم المخاطر الإنشائية التي تهدد الأضرحة المملوكية الأثرية بمدينة القاهرة؛ للوقوف على درجة الخطر التي تتعرض لها تلك المنشآت الأثرية، ومن ثم اقتراح إستراتيجية علمية متكاملة لوقف أسباب التدهور، وعلاج مظاهر التلف الموجودة فعليا. وجاءت الدراسة في ستة فصول؛ يتناول الفصل الأول دراسة مسحية لأهم الأضرحة المملوكية القائمة بمدينة القاهرة، وكذلك أعمال التسجيل والتوثيق العلمي والرفع المعماري ودراسة نظام البناء للضريح موضوع الدراسة وهو "ضريح الأشرف خليل". ويتناول الفصل الثاني عوامل ومظاهر التلف المختلفة المؤثرة على الضريح موضوع الدراسة، وتقييم الوضع الراهن. أما الفصل الثالث فقد خصص للفحوص والتحاليل والاختبارات الخاصة بمواد البناء بالضريح موضوع الدراسة، للتعرف على التركيب المعدني والخواص الفيزيائية والميكانيكية لمواد البناء، ومن ثم عرض النتائج ومناقشتها. وتناول الفصل الرابع التحليل الإنشائي لضريح الأشرف خليل باستخدام طريقة العناصر المحددة؛ حيث تم شرح خطوات ومراحل التحليل الإنشائي المتبعة، ومناقشة نتائجها. وجاء الفصل الخامس من هذه الدراسة موجها لطرح إستراتيجية علمية متكاملة للترميم والحفاظ على مبنى الضريح موضوع الدراسة، استنادا إلى المعايير العلمية التي حددتها المواثيق الدولية المعتبرة في هذا الشأن، ولا تقتصر هذه الإستراتيجية على المبنى فقط بل تمتد لتشمل محيط الأثر، كجانب تطبيقي لهذه الدراسة. وجاء في بداية كل فصل مناقشة للأدبيات (الدراسات السابقة) التي تناولت موضوع الدراسة، و قد تم تعزيز هذه الدراسة بكافة أنواع التوثيق المتاحة (تصوير فوتوغرافي – خرائط – رسومات معمارية .. إلخ) بالاستعانة بالأجهزة والبرامج الهندسية المتقدمة. وانتهت الدراسة بالفصل السادس وهو مناقشة عامة للنتائج والاستنتاجات، ثم التوصيات، وختمت بقائمة المراجع العلمية في موضوعات الدراسة المختلفة.
