المقدمة وتشتمل على تعريف أشغال الصدف وطرق الصناعة والفنون التي ظهر عليها وكذلك نبذة عن عصر أسرة محمد على ، كما تشتمل على أهمية البحث وأسباب اختياره وإشكالية البحث وصعوباته والدراسات السابقة ومنهجية البحث ، ويلي المقدمة التمهيد ويتضمن دراسة عصر أسرة محمد على واهتمامهم بالفنون ورعايتها وإنشاء القصور المتميزة واقتناء التحف القيمة النادرة التي ملأت المتاحف الكبرى في مصر. ثم بعد ذلك القسم الأول وفيه الدراسة الوصفية مدعومة بالصور للقطع الفنية الموجودة بالمتاحف المختلفة في القاهرة والتي تم تطعيمها بالصدف . القسم الثاني : الدراسة التحليلية عن المواد الخام (الصدف ــ العاج ــ العظم ) وما هو الصدف وطرق استخراجه وكيفية استخدامه وكذلك الطرق الصناعية والأساليب الزخرفية يلي ذلك العناصر الزخرفية والمتمثلة في الشارات والشعارات ،النقوش الكتابية، العناصر المعمارية ،الزخارف النباتية، وأخيرا الأشكال الهندسية وبعد ذلك المراكز الصناعية والطرز الفنية .

The Introduction, which includes a definition of the shell works, manufacturing methods, and the arts that appeared on them, as well as a brief about the era of the Mohammad Ali Dynasty. It also includes the importance of the research, the reasons for choosing it, the problem of the research, its difficulties, previous studies, and the research methodology. The introduction is followed by the preface, which includes a study of the era of the Mohammad Ali Dynasty and their interest in the arts and their care, the establishment of distinguished palaces, and the acquisition of valuable and rare artifacts that filled the major museums in Egypt.Then the first section is the descriptive study supported by pictures of the artistic pieces in the various museums in Cairo that were inlaid with shell works.Section Two: Analytical study of raw materials (shells - ivory - bone) and what is shells and methods of extraction and how to use them as well as industrial methods and styles followed by decorative elements represented by badges and logos, written inscriptions, architectural elements, plant decorations and finally geometric shapes and then industrial centers and artistic styles .
