منذ أقدم العصور قامت فى المنطقة الممتدة من الشلال الأول عند جنوب أسوان حضارة لها طابعها الخاص، وإن كنا لا نعلم الكثير من سمات هذة الحضارة ولكن البعثات الأثرية التى بدأت التنقيب بالمنطقة فى أوائل القرن العشرين، وذلك خشيةً أن تغمر بسبب خزان اسوان، قد كشفت لنا عن بعض مظاهر هذة الحضارة.من المستحيل ان نكتب عن جميع جوانب الحياة فى بلاد النوبة دون أن نتعرض لفنونها الشعبية، والتى تتجلى فى عدة اشياء منها على سبيل المثال، اساليب الحرف، الصناعات الشعبية، العمارة، الازياءالنوبية، وكذلك النشاط الزراعى والنهج التعليمى، والرعايا الصحية والمناسبات الأحتفالية كالأعياد وعادات الزواج، والأغانى النوبية، وغيرها من الأمور التى تميز بها المجتمع النوبى، فإذا تحدثنا عن العمارة النوبية، فنجد إنها تميل الى البساطة والرقى، فقد تعاون الأهالى فى بنائها بأنفسهم فى مساحات واسعة. كما تجلى المظهر الأجتماعى فى ثيابهم التى تميزت بالبساطة فى زخرفتها. أما عن نشاطهم الاقتصادى، فقد تمثل فى الأعمال الزراعية والتجارية وكذلك الحرفية اليدوية البسيطة امثلة" الكرج" و"الشعاليق" و"الابراش" وغيره. كما إن الزواج فى النوبة له طابعه الخاص من عادات وتقاليد توارثها الأجيال، وتعد الأغانى النوبية من أهم مظاهر التراث النوبى، فهى بجانب إنها تعبر عن المشاعر الإنسانية التقليدية فى المناسبات المختلفة، فهى أيضاً تمثل تاريخاً للعديد من التغيرات التى طرأت على النوبيين فى مراحلها المختلفة. إلى جانب ذلك تميزت ثقافة اهل النوبة بطابعها الخاص المتمثل فى تراثهم الحضارى وحثهم الفنى الأبداعى ولغتهم العريقة.

Since ancient ages, in the area of the first waterfall,there was a civilization of the south of Aswan, its a special character, although we do not know much about the characteristics of this civilization, but the archaeological expeditions that started excavating of the area in the early twentieth century are afraid of being submerged by the aswan reservoir, about some semblances of this civiliztion. Its impossible to write about all aspects of life in Nubia without addressing its folk arts, which are evident in several things, including,for example, the style of crafts, folk industries, Nubian fachions, as well as agricultural activity, educational approach, health care,ceremonial occasions such as festivities, marriage customs, Nubian folk songs,and other things that characterize Nubian society. If we talk about Nubian architecture, we find that it tends to simplicity in its decoration. The people cooperated in building,it themselves in large areas. The social appearance was also evident in their clothes, which were characterized by simplicity in their decoration. As for their economic activity, it was represented in agricultural, commercial, and simple handicraft work, examples of which are Al-Kraj, Al-Abrash,Al-Shaaleeq, and others. Marriage in Nubia also has its own character of customs and traditions passed down through generations. Nubian songs are considered one of the most important manifestations of the Nubian heritage. In addition to expressing traditional human feelings on various occasions, they also represent a history of many of the changes that occurred among the Nubians in their various stages. In addition, the culture of the Nubian people was characterized by its special character, represented by their cultural heritage, artistic motivation,and ancient language.
