ركزت الدراسة على تناول انعكاسات وتأثير جائحة كوفيد-19 على الحركات الاجتماعية. ولتحقيق هذا الهدف، تعمقت في حالتي الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وألمانيا وذلك بشكل مقارن، خلال الفترة ما بين ديسمبر 2019 وبدايات عام 2023. وأكدت نتائجها أن ثمة تغيرات طرأت على الحركات الاجتماعية خلال جائحة كوفيد-19، كان أهمها: أولاً، تغير هيكل الفرص السياسية القائم أمام الحركات الاجتماعية، فبينما مثلت الجائحة قيوداً لبعض الحركات الاجتماعية وألزمتها بالتوقف عن النشاط والتأثير، وفّرت فرصاً لبعضها الآخر أن تواصل نشاطها وفعاليتها. ثانياً، تغيرت عملية تعبئة الموارد وآليات الحشد، حيث قامت بعض الحركات الاجتماعية بعملية تكييف التكتيكات المعتادة، واستخدام تكتيكات واستراتيجيات جديدة ومبتكرة للاحتجاج، الأمر الذي مكنها دون غيرها من النشاط خلال الجائحة.

The study focused on addressing the repercussions and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on social movements. To achieve this goal, The researcher delved into the cases of the United States of America and Germany in a comparative manner, during the period between December 2019 and the beginning of 2023. The results confirmed that there were changes that occurred in social movements during the Covid-19 pandemic, the most important of which were: First, the existing structure of political opportunities for social movements has changed, While the pandemic represented restrictions for some social movements and forced them to stop being active and influential, it provided opportunities for others to continue their activity and effectiveness. Second, the process of mobilizing resources and mobilization mechanisms has changed, with some social movements adapting usual tactics and using new and innovative protest tactics and strategies, which has enabled them to be more active during the pandemic.
