لم تعد القدرات العسكرية للدولة هي المصدر الوحيد للنفوذ السياسي، حيث تعتبر الموارد الطبيعية لأي بلد متغيرًا مهمًا لسلطة الدولة ومد نفوها، وقد أدرکت الدولة الروسية والمصرية هذه الأهمية لمد نفوذهما فى مجالهما الخارجى، وفي الواقع فإن النفوذ الروسي يعتبر نشاط طويل الأمد يستخدم العديد من الأدوات السياسية والاقتصادية والعسكرية والطاقوية والتكنولوجية، وقد اعتمدت روسيا على الطاقة کأداة أساسية لزيادة النفوذ وتصدير صورة روسيا للعالم کدولة کبرى لها تأثير على السياسات العالمية ، وفى نفس الوقت أتبعت مصر نفس النهج وجعلت نفسها الدولة الاكثر تأثيراً فى المنطقه فى العديد من المجالات ومنهم الطاقه حيث تعد الاكتشافات الجديدة نقطة فارقة فى مجال الطاقة فضلاً عن أنها من أهم الممرات التى يعبر من خلالها الكثير من الغاز الطبيعى عبر ارضيها وعلى وجهه الخصوص قناه السويس .من الواضح أن هناك مزيد من التعاون بين مصر ورسيا فى مجال الطاقة فى الفترة الحالية نظراً لحاجه كلا الدولتين لبعضهما البعض فالمصلحة هنا متكافئة ومتبادلة ، حيث تستمر روسيا في توظيف المنطقة کنقطة انطلاق لعمليات نقل وتسويق الغاز مع مراعاة مواجهة بعض التحديات في المنطقة مثل الروابط الاقتصادية والأمنية بين دول المنطقة وبين الولايات المتحدة الأمريکية المنافس القوي لروسيا والذي قد يعيق التواجد الروسي في المنطقة، بالاضافة إلى منافسة روسيا مع بعض دول المنطقة نفسها على أسواق الطاقة والخلافات الخاصة بأسعار البترول، لذا تحتاج إلى حليف قوى ومؤثر فى المنطقة وهو الدولة المصرية ،لذا نستطيع القول ان الطاقة تعد عاملاً مؤثراً على العلاقات بين مصر وروسيا .

The state's military capabilities are no longer the only source of political influence, as the natural resources of any country are considered an important variable for the state's power and the extent of its influence. The Russian and Egyptian states have realized this importance to extend their influence in their external sphere. In fact, Russian influence is considered a long-term activity that uses many tools. political, economic, military, energy and technological, Russia has relied on energy as a basic tool to increase influence and export Russia’s image to the world as a major country with influence on global politics. At the same time, Egypt followed the same approach and made itself the most influential country in the region in many fields, including energy, as the new discoveries are a turning point in the field. Energy, in addition to being one of the most important corridors through which a lot of natural gas passes through its lands, in particular the Suez Canal.
It is clear that there is more cooperation between Egypt and Russia in the field of energy in the current period, given the need of both countries for each other. The interest here is equal and mutual, as Russia continues to use the region as a starting point for gas transportation and marketing operations, taking into account facing some challenges in the region such as economic and security ties. Between the countries of the region and the United States of America, Russia's strong competitor, which may hinder the Russian presence in the region.In addition to Russia's competition with some countries in the same region over energy markets and disputes over oil prices, it needs a strong and influential ally in the region, which is the Egyptian state. Therefore, we can say that energy is a factor influencing relations between Egypt and Russia.
