Background: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer for women worldwide. Mastectomy is widely used as surgical management of breast cancer. It affects women emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, and physically. Identification of the patients needs after mastectomy can help them in coping with their condition as well as help nurses to develop a guide discharge care plan. Aim: To determine discharge needs among women with mastectomy and establish suggested nursing care plan. Design: A descriptive exploratory research design was used in the study. Setting: The study was conducted at the Inpatient Breast Cancer Surgical Department at Eltagamoah El-awal Hospital subordinate to National Cancer Institute affiliated to Cairo University, Egypt. Sample: A Purposive sample of 100 adult women with breast cancer who were performed Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM). Tools: Two tools were utilized to collect data: Personal and Medical Background Data Form and adapted Toronto Informational Needs Questionnaire of Breast Cancer (TINQ-BC). Results: The study results revealed that the mean age of the studied sample was 47.7±13.5 years. The highest informational needs among studied women with mastectomy prior discharge were spiritual needs with mean percentage (88%), followed by physical needs (87.8%), then treatment and complications with mean percentage (87.2%).Conclusion: Based on results of the study, the studied women with mastectomy prior discharge had informational needs in this order; spiritual, Physical, Treatment and complications, disease, and informational needs about investigation and tests, while the least dimension was psychosocial needs. Recommendation: Longitudinal study is recommended to determine the long term effect of unmet needs especially prior hospital discharge after mastectomy.

المقدمة: سرطان الثدي هو قضية صحية عالمية وله تأثير على صحة المرأة في جميع البلدان؛ وهو السرطان الأكثر شيوعًا بين النساء في 157 دولة من أصل 185 دولة.الهدف: تهدف الدراسة الحالية الى تحديد احتياجات الخروج من المستشفى لدى سيدات إستئصال الثدي : واقتراح خطة تمريضيه لهم. تصميم البحث: الاستكشافي الوصفي. مكان البحث: تم إجراء هذه الدراسة بقسم جراحة سرطان الثدي للمرضى الداخليين بمستشفى سرطان الثدى التابع للمعهد القومي للأورام - جامعة القاهرة بالتجمع الاول. عينة البحث: تم تضمين عينة مقصودة من النساء البالغات المصابات بسرطان الثدي 100 امرأة خضعن لاستئصال الثدي الجذري المعدل ممن استوفوا معايير الاختيار. أدوات البحث: تم جمع بيانات الدراسة الحالية باستخدام استبيانين التاليتين: نموذج البيانات المرجعية والطبية واستبيان تورونتو المعدل للاحتياجات المعلوماتية لسرطان الثدي. النتائج: النتائج المتعلقة بالاحتياجات من المعلومات، كان مقياس الاحتياجات المعلوماتية الاعلى لدى العينة المدروسة هو الاحتياجات الروحية بمتوسط نسبة (88%) ،تليها الاحتياجات الجسدية بمتوسط نسبة (87.8%) بينماكان البعد الأقل حاجة إلى المعلومات هوالاحتياجات النفسية الاجتماعية بنسبة 76%. الاستنتاج: بناءً على نتائج هذه الدراسة، كان لدى النساء بعد إجراء استئصال الثدي الجذري المعدل قبل الخروج من المستشفى احتياجات عالية للحصول على معلومات حول كل نطاق فرعي. وجاء ترتيبها على النحو التالي: الاحتياجات الروحية في المرتبة الأولى، تليها الاحتياجات الجسدية، فالعلاج والمضاعفات، فالمرض والفحص والاختبار، وأخيراً الحاجة النفسية الاجتماعية. . التوصيات: إنشاء مراكز موارد متخصصة في مختلف محافظات مصر والمناطق الريفية والحضرية لتلبية الاحتياجات المعلوماتية بين النساء بعد استئصال الثدي.
