تتناول الدراسة التنافس الأمريكي الصيني في منطقة القرن الأفريقي - بمفهومها الضيق الذي يضم أربع وحدات سياسية (إثيوبيا – جيبوتي – إريتريا - الصومال) - منذ عام 2015 وتأثيره على المصالح الوطنية المصرية. وبدأت الدراسة بالبحث في أسباب ودوافع التنافس الأمريكي الصيني في منطقة القرن الأفريقي، والتي انقسمت إلى الأسباب والدوافع المتعلقة بالولايات المتحدة والصين والأسباب والدوافع الناشئة من البيئة الإقليمية والأسباب والدوافع ذات الصلة بالبيئة العالمية.ثم جرى بحث ظاهرة التنافس بين الولايات المتحدة والصين في منطقة القرن الأفريقي خلال فترة الدراسة التي تبدأ من عام 2015، في أربع مجالات رئيسية هي: المجال السياسي، والمجال العسكري، والمجال الاقتصادي، والمجال الثقافي-الاجتماعي. ثم تطرقت الدراسة إلى بحث المصالح الوطنية المصرية في المنطقة، والتي تنقسم الى مصالح مصيرية تتمثل في المصالح المائية المصرية، ثم المصالح الحيوية وتتمثل في أمن البحر الأحمر وضمان أمن السودان والقضاء على التنظيمات الإرهابية والمتطرفة في المنطقة، والمصالح الرئيسة التي تشتمل على المصالح السياسية والاقتصادية. ومن ثم دراسة تأثير التنافس بين الولايات المتحدة والصين في القرن الأفريقي على تلك المصالح، والخروج بمقترحات لتحرك مصري يسعى للتقليل من أثر التنافس على المصالح المصرية في المنطقة.

The study examines the US-Sino rivalry in the Horn of Africa region - defined narrowly as comprising four political entities (Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Somalia) - since 2015 and its impact on Egyptian national interests. The study begins by researching the reasons and motives for US-Sino rivalry in the Horn of Africa region, by investigating the reasons and motives related to the United States and China, the reasons and motives arising from the regional environment, and the reasons and motives related to the global environment.Subsequently, the study analyzes the manifestations of U.S.-China rivalry in the Horn of Africa from 2015 onward across four key domains: political, military, economic, and socio-cultural. It then addresses Egypt’s national interests in the region, segmented into three tiers: Survival interests, Centered on Egypt’s water security, and its Nile River rights. Vital interests: Encompassing Red Sea security, ensuring Sudan’s stability, and eradicating terrorist and extremist groups in the region. Major interests: Including political and economic interests.The study further evaluates how U.S.-China rivalry in the Horn of Africa impacts these Egyptian interests. Finally, it proposes policy recommendations for Egypt to mitigate the effects of this rivalry on its national interests in the region.
