استهدفت الدراسة التعرف على أشكال الإرهاب الإلكتروني، والفروق بينها وبين الحروب السيبرانية، والتى باتت تعرف بحروب الجيل الخامس، كذلك التعرف على أبرز أدواتها المستخدمة في عصر الرقمنة الذي نعيشه اليوم، حيث برز لنا أن وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي خاصة موقع تويتر، وما يتصف به من دينامية عمل جعلها أرضًا خصبة لتداول الأخبار الكاذبة / المفبركة، والتى هي أحد أبرز أدوات الإرهاب الإلكتروني والحروب السيبرانية، في تزييف الوعي الجمعي للجمهور، بهدف التضليل وإثارة البلبلة والفوضى، وصولًا لإحداث تغيير ما، سواء كان اقتصاديًا أو سياسيٍا أو ثقافيٍا في البلد المستهدف، تحقيقًا لأهداف الإرهاب الإلكتروني أو الحرب السيبرانية.

This study aimed to identify the forms of cyber terrorism and the distinctions between them and cyber warfare, which have become known as fifth-generation warfare. It also sought to identify the most prominent tools used in the digital age we live in today. It became evident that social media, particularly Twitter, with its operational dynamics, has become fertile ground for the circulation of fake/fabricated news, which is one of the most prominent tools of cyber terrorism and cyber warfare in distorting public collective consciousness. This is done with the aim of spreading misinformation, causing confusion and chaos, and ultimately bringing about change, whether economic, political, or cultural, in the targeted country, in order to achieve the objectives of cyber terrorism or cyber warfare.
