1.0 This thesis explores key topics in arithmetic geometry, focusing on quotient modular curves and smooth plane curves. For an integer N≥1 and a non-trivial subgroup W_N of the Atkin-Lehner involution group of X_0 (N), we classify all pairs (N,W_N) such that the quotient curve X_0 (N)/W_N is bielliptic. Additionally, we identify the pairs (N,W_N) for which X_0 (N)/W_N possesses infinitely many quadratic points over Q, analyzing both square-free and non-square-free cases of N.
The thesis further investigates the automorphism groups and signatures of smooth plane septic curves defined over an algebraically closed field K of characteristic 0. For each automorphism group, we construct a geometrically complete family over K, providing generic defining polynomial equations that describe each locus up to K-projective equivalence. Notably, we introduce two distinct examples of final strata, representing novel contributions to the classification of smooth plane curves.
