ملاحظة الأطروحة: Thesis (M.Sc.)-Cairo University, 2024. In recent years, Egypt has faced growing challenges in meeting its natural gas demand. By 2013, the country produced approximately four billion cubic feet of gas per day, while importing nearly one billion cubic feet, creating significant pressure on its foreign exchange reserves. To address this issue, the government focused on developing new wells and optimizing existing ones. A major turning point occurred in August 2015, when the Italian company Eni discovered the Zohr gas field in the Mediterranean, the largest in Egypt and the eastern region, with estimated reserves of thirty trillion cubic feet and an expected production capacity of two billion cubic feet by the end of 2019. Against this background, this study aims to examine the factors affecting natural gas consumption in seven Egyptian governorates between 2019 and 2023, and to predict future consumption using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. Specifically, the research analyzes consumption patterns, divides months into quarters, and compares domestic, industrial, and commercial sectors. It also considers key influencing factors such as the number of customers, weather conditions, and pricing. Artificial intelligence methods, including Random Forest Regressor and Neural Networks, were applied to the data. Results indicate that the Random Forest Regressor achieved an accuracy of 93% on training data and 91% on test data, while the Neural Network (5000 epochs) recorded 85% on training data and 95% on test data. Although each method provided valuable insights, the Neural Network proved to be the most effective predictive model, offering scalability and improved accuracy with additional data. This study highlights the vital role of natural gas as an indispensable energy source for Egypt, even with the growing presence of alternative clean energy solutions.
