Flatfoot is a foot with low or no medial longitudinal arch Common types of flatfoot include flexible flatfoot which may be regarded in many cases as normal contour of the foot Treatment is reserved for symptomatic cases Congenital verticval talus a rare condition and usually requires surgical correction Calcaneuvalgus foot is a relatively common and benign condition , usually resolves without treatment In adolescents tarsal coalition is a common cause of rigid flatfoot , surgery is required for cases that do not respond to conservative treatment Accessory navicular bone also presented in early adulthood , excision is required for persistent cases
