PGE₂, play either a stimulatory or an inhibitory role in bone metabolism, depending on the physiological or pathological circumstances. It contributes to the flare and weal effects by inducing vasodilation and increasing capillary permeability, and these effects are enhanced by synergism with other inflammatory mediators. The aim of this study was to evaluate PGE₂ levels in GCF as a biomarker of periodontal destruction in chronic periodontitis patients comparing two different modalities open debridement versus closed debridement
