The live B. melitensis rev-1 vaccine is considered the best and the most effective vaccinal strain available for prophylaxis and controlling brucellosis in small ruminant. However its administration with a full dose displays a number of drawbacks. In this study, hot saline extract (HSE) and periplasmic soluble brucella protein (SBP) were extracted from B.abortus S19 and their protective activity against challenge with a field isolate was recovered from aborted ewe was measured in BALB/c mice
