Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: Diabetes may cause many oral mucosal lesions as it increases vulnerability to bacterial and fungal infections that may lead to sever tissue destruction and necrosis . The oral mucosa also loses resilience , which is necessary for good adaptation of a complete denture . It also increases the osteoclastic activity of bone tissue in the mandible and maxilla causing bone resorption
