Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electronics and Communication Summary: OpenFlow was intoduced in 2008 as a new technique that can be incorporated in the standard network devices like routers and switches. It enables using the existing networks infrastructure for testing . Network devices will do their normal job of processing packets according to the existing standards, and at the same time, will allow a "sample" of the traffic to be processed according to software defined protocols.
