AKI is a serious complication post CABG. The off - pump technique was developed to avoid the post operative complications of the pump.. Our Aim is to assess the incidence of AKI in both and the impact of plasma and urinary NGAL in predicting AKI. 45 patients undergoing CABG were studied 25 by the off pump technique and 20 by the on pump. Plasma and urinary NGAL were measured 2 hours post operative (by ELISA ). 15 patients ( 33.3%) had AKI, 11 ( 73%) were classified as stage I and 4 ( 27%) as stage II ( AKIN ) AKI occurred in 10 patients ( 40 %) of the 25 patients who underwent off - pump procedure and 5 ( 33.3% ) of the 15 on pump - P > 0.05
