Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: A new technique is introduced for mechanical connection of cold formed steel structure. The technique based on using a part of a tube (ring) to be inserted in a pre punched hole and deforming the tube edges to hold the connected part together. The experimental research consisted of three phases, in the first phase the developing the steel O - ring (SOR) was done, the second phase included experimental investigation of 126 test specimens and the third phase included a FE analysis for six models of the new connection using ABAQUS software. The failure modes were identified. Design equations for this new connection were introduced
