Dental amalgam is one of most common restorative materials used in dentistry. It is inexpensive and relatively easy to use and manipulate during placement. Also it is strong, durable and has bacteriostatic effects. Magnetic resonance imaging MRI is primarily a medical imaging technique that is commonly used in radiology. It is a non - invasive method for mapping the internal structure and certain aspects of function within the body. It uses non - ionizing electromagnetic radiation and appears to be without exposure - related hazard. There is the possibility that ferromagnetic materials will move when placed in a magnetic field, thus this includes amalgam alloys. That is why this study was performed to detect any effect on microleakage of amalgam following MRI examination
