Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Ophthalmology Summary: purpose: to report complications in patients aftr intravitreal injection of bevacizumab for treatment macular edema due to diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion.Patients & Methods: The study retrospectively reviewed the systemic and ocular complications after single intravitreal injection of bevacizumab (Avastin) in 50 patients with diabetic retinopathy and 20 patients with Retinal Vein occlusion. Results: In the study there was no systemic complications in both groups. Ocular complicatons as subconjuctial hemorrhages was found in 36 patients (51.4%), with 28 patients diabetic retinopathy (56%) and 8 patients retinal vein occlusion (40%), Secondary Epiretinal membrane formation was found in 17 patients (24.3%), with12 patients diabetic retinopathy (24%) and 5 patients retinal vein occlusion (25%), Tractional retinal detachment was found in 6 patients (8.6%) with 2 patients diabetic retinopathy (4%) and 4 patients retinal vein occlusion (20%) ,Vitreous Hge was found in 3 patients (4.3%) with 2 patients diabetic retinopathy (4%) and 1 patients retinal vein occlusion (5%) , Lamellar macular hole was found in 2 patients (2.9%) with 1 patients diabetic retinopathy (2 %) and 1 patients retinal vein occlusion (5%) , Lens injury was found in 1 patients (1.4%) with 1 patients retinal vein occlusion (5%)
